Lonavala and Khandala are two very common hill station in Maharashtra and common Weekend gateway for Mumbaikars and Pune people. This is in between two famous cities Mumbai and Pune. The major attraction of these two hill station is viewpoints. Anyone can enjoy the greenery and cloud over the hills at the time of monsoon only. Even you will see lots of small waterfalls in the place as well. In any other season, you may not find this place that much interesting also as It becomes very dry and dull.
I went to this place yesterday for a weekend trip with my friend and fortunately, I get the chance to witness a fierce look of nature at monsoon. The place was completely covered with fog and clouds touches the peaks and contiguous rainfall made the weather super humid and wet. Water was flowing over the roads in the hills and fog has become a great obstruction in driving vehicles. We could barely see the view from all the viewpoints but high wind over these viewpoints in the rain was very charming. Lonavala and it's beauty is really remarkable and time of monsoon only. But I spent a great time over there in a Hill Resort. Transport was bare minimum due to such weather. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert over different places in Maharashtra that time. Many trains were canceled along with my own. Finally, I made it back to Mumbai with my friends. Even in this situation also buses were still available at that time, which is really remarkable.
