Karnataka, a state in southern part of India, known for its mesmerising Wildlife and Royal Heritage.
I live in a countryside at our farmhouse in Kollegal town, Karnataka, India
One morning - Myself and my father decided to hop on a long drive to Bandipur Tiger Reserve and National Park (A part of Niligiri Biosphere) via NH 766.
100km approx. from our place (one way).
Kollegal - Chamrajnagar - Gundlupet - Bandipur
Places of attractions on the way to Bandipur -
*Himavad Gopalaswamy Hills or Betta, an ancient temple with incredible scenic beauty
The moment you cross the reserve's check post, western ghats welcomes with the amazing forest view with the trees like bamboos, teak, rosewood and many common flowering trees.
The most commonly found animals in this region are Monkeys and Spotted Deers. We also spotted an Elephant, Bison and Wild Boar on our way.
There is a canteen named "Nisarga" inside Bandipur Tiger Reserve's premises, I did not taste the food though, looked neat. Also, there are some resorts and restaurants nearby.
However, if you are planning a day trip, I would suggest to take the home food and enjoy having it at the green space without littering.
October to May is the ideal time to visit Bandipur.
We could not make it to the safari since we had to return home the same evening. Safari by Jeep would be more adventurous than by bus.
Safari Timing -
The bus safari is available between 6:30 am and 9:00 am and between 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm
Elephant safari is be available between 10 am and 11 am
Jeep safari is available from 6:00 am to 9:00am and from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm
On our way back, we bought some fresh and locally grown watermelons and vegetables which is sold on the roadside.
