After my book launch on April 1, 2018, which ended around 1.30 pm, we were famished. And wanted to have full meals, which means the elaborate thali lunch, with an assortment of lentils and vegetable curries. Thus we ended up at the vegetarian restaurant - Sukh Sagar. We asked for a South Indian thali - but they did not have it (though it was listed in their menu) For a moment, I was depressed. Nevertheless, at least they had the North Indian thali. So we went ahead and opted for the North Indian thali. They had a deluxe version too, but I adhered to the much simpler thali, priced at Rs. 145. I noticed that their South Indian thali was priced lesser than the North Indian thali. Besides the thali, there were many dishes listed on their elaborate menu.

The service was quick and the staff were courteous too. Except for the heat (though the fans were rotating at full speed) as summers have set in, the ambiance was fine. The crowd too, was cool and not noisy, unlike some places wherein the people tend to eat and speak simultaneously.

My mother prefer's rice over rotis (which were a bit stiff and dry), thus, we requested the waiter to bring her two bowls of rice. Though the thali had a cup of vegetable rice (non spicy pulao or call it mildly scented rice with some vegetables in it) Initially he was hesitant, but later on understanding the plight of my South Indian mother (who always prefers to adhere to plain rice), he brought her, two bowlfuls of plain rice.

The 'sumptuous' lunch thali:

We were ravenous, as soon as the neatly arranged thali arrived, we gorged on the food. It had a variety of curries and dals, some of which I could not decipher any one, except the brinjal curry. It seemed that the curries and dals (lentil dish), together, could have satiated our hunger (minus the rotis and rice) Though I could not eat all of it, I personally liked and savored, cucumber raita and the Bengali sweet, rasagulla. Not to forget the crunchy papad, which my daughter munched on. Wow! I felt I had a 'kings' lunch. My father was happy about this elaborate lunch thali. Following our meal, we were asked whether we wanted any dessert. We all said in unison, 'No'! And for a moment we felt we could not move ourselves from our seats. The thali had a lot of food!

My daughter being a light eater, preferred to have pav bhaji, wherein the curry was much in excess compared to the quantity of bread, which was served with it.
