Day 2

Sangti valley in Arunachal Pradesh, near the town of dirang is nature at its best.

Our drive to the valley was enchanting with the spectacular view of the Eastern Himalayas, the Kameng river gushing down the valley and the snow capped in the distance making us halt at regular intervals to capture the stunning beauty of nature.

But , I was totally mesmerised as I reached the river side camp at Sangti valley, our weekend getaway. The Letro Camp side along the Kameng river in the valley just seemed out of a post card.

The lush green valley surrounded by conical shaped pine forested mountians, the pristine Kameng river rustling by, the brightly hued prayer flags fluttering in the air and amidst them the dazzling while camps lined with each other.

The owner Mr. Letro and his family have a home stay as well as river side luxury camps. We preferred to stay in the camps as it was my first stay in a camp and provided the thrill of it.

His family welcomed us and we joined the other guests for lunch which comprised of a variety of delicious delicacies like Pork curry, Yak fry, Deer fried and Chicken curry.

I loved the children curry and duck eggs.

My fear of camping was always due to a single reason, the washroom. But not in these tents, not only were they spacious with king size bed and clean linens and blankets, the washroom was whipped with a chemical WC pot, a wash basin and a hand shower.

Now that is what we can truly call luxury in the lap of nature.

The evening became nippy courtsey the incessant drizzling but the bon fire and the foot tapping music we danced to kept us warm and so did the convector inside our tent which was cozy in spite of the chill of the night.

I opened my eyes to the rays of the sun peeping inside our tent bringing it's warmth and glimmer.

The morning sun made everything shiny and glittery and even the dew drops on the blades of grass was glistening like a bead of gold.

Was sat down basking in the sun by the virgin river, it's water so clear that even the pebbles inside were visible sparkling in the light .

Our breakfast of puri bhaji with a steaming hot cup of coffee is for the day long trek ahead.

Set up in 2017 and maintained immaculately by Mr. Letro and his family his nature camp will clear your clog of the hustle and bustle of the city life, refresh you from within and re-energize you with a fresh energy.

Highly recommended if far from the maddening crowd and amidst scenic nature is your is your idea of a ideal vacation.

How to reach
Road - Road is the only way to reach Sangti valley as there is rail and air connectivity near it. It's 370 kms and seven hours drive from Guwahati. You can stop on the way in Mangaldoi, Rupa and Bomdilla for meals.
