Macau has lately gained a Top-spot in every Traveller's bucket list because of the amount of stuff it has to offer! It didn't manage to escape my bucket list either, so here are some things that I admire about this region!

History

1. It’s the oldest temple in the city and is dedicated to the goddess Mazu, protector of seafarers and fishermen.

2. The house has the characteristics of traditional Chinese period buildings, yet it also features a fusion of architectural influences from Western cultures, making it a unique product of Chinese and Western cultural interchange.

3. Built in 1858, it’s the oldest theatre in Macao and was the first Western-style theatre to open in China.

4. Guia Fortress -The Fortress along with the chapel and lighthouse are symbols of Macao’s maritime, military and missionary past.

5. The church was one of the greatest monuments to Christianity in Asia, and was acclaimed as “The Vatican of the Far East”.

Family Fun

6. Pavilion of Rare Animals is situated inside Seac Pai Van Park in Coloane and serves as a conservation site for rare animals.

7. Macao Science Center consists of the Exhibition Center, the Planetarium and the Convention Center.

8. In partnership with Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment, ‘Batman Dark Flight’ is the world’s first flight simulation ride themed around DC Comics Super Hero “Batman”

9. Here you can enjoy BBQ facilities, walking trails and canoeing. Splash about in a hired boat, and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Jacaranda Kiosk and mountain forest area.

Experiential Shows

10. This popular show - rooted in the ‘seven emotions’ of Chinese Confucian belief - features fantastic stage effects for the most extravagant live production ever staged in Asia.

11. The SkyCab is the best way for tourists to enjoy a ride overlooking Cotai and the Performance Lake from 28m up.

12. Yueju Opera is the most influential opera in Southern China, and was listed as a "Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity" by UNESCO in September 2009.

Shopping Spree

13. Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro is Macao’s commercial centre, a transportation hub, and a major thoroughfare. A visit to this area is a must for visitors exploring Macao.

14. Taipa Old Village is a treasure trove of souvenir shops, snacks, traditional cakes and exquisite furnishings where visitors can find the ideal gift or souvenir for family and friends.

15. Shoppes at Venetian - a luxuriously appointed indoor mall housing more than 330 stores featuring world renowned brands and upscale boutiques - offers fashion, jewellery, gifts, sports accessories and restaurants.

Recreational Parks

16. In the 18th century this hilly, heavily wooded garden formed part of the grounds of the house which was occupied by the Chairman of the British East India Company.

17. The Arts Garden, containing flower gardens, fountains and statuary, runs alongside the Avenida de Amizade, bisecting Comendador Ho Yin Garden and Dr. Carlos d'Assumpcão Park.

Major Attraction

18. It is an elegant construction offering magnificent panoramic views all over Macao and much of the Pearl River Delta from its observation deck and revolving restaurant, at the 223-metre level. There is the opportunity to walk around the outside of the tower, for instance "Skywalk X".

19. Festivals & Events

Macao boasts a unique festival culture, including such traditional Chinese celebrations as Lunar New Year, Feast of the God Tou Tei, the Tun Ng Festival (Dragon Boat Festival) as well as the important Western festivals of Easter, Procession of our Lady of Fátima, and Christmas.
