Day 1 (04 Jan): AN EXCURSION TO CITY OF DREAMS- MUMBAI

Located along the Konkan coast , Mumbai is known its glamour, beauty and most importantly “Bollywood”. Also famous for its paani-puri and vada pav, the city offers its visitors a wide range of tourist places.

These are-

a)Gateway of India

b) Haji Ali Dargarh

c) Elephanta Caves

d) Film City

Since I had already been to these places, we proceeded directly to Mumbai Film city from Mumbai Airport .

Mumbai Film City(Dadasaheb Phalke Chitranagari) situated in Goregaon ,spreads across a vast area of 520 acres and comprises of about twenty indoor studios. The place includes real-life sets such as villages, cities, mountains, lakes, fountains, gardens and picnic spots significant for the shooting.

After exploring the Mumbai Film City, we proceeded to Bawa Regency Hotel in Prabhadevi.

Day :2 (05 Jan) MUMBAI(Siddhivinayak Temple) TO ALIBAUG(4hr.30 min)

We began our day with a visit to Siddhivinayak Temple to take part in morning aarti which is a famous attraction to the devotees who visit here every year. After seeking the blessings of Ganpati,we left for Alibaug. Due to poor condition of roads we reached Alibaug around 4.30 pm . On reaching, we checked in to the The Fern Silvanus Resort, and decided to spend some relaxing time on the beach. It features sprawling shores of black sand and photogenic sunset. After spending good 4hrs on beach , we returned to our amazing resort for a good night sleep.

Day :3 (06 Jan )ALIBAUG TO MATHERAN (4hr30min/ 92 KM )

After breakfast we headed for sunrise in Alibaug

We left for Zanjira Fort in Murud around 8.00am and it took 1hr 20 min to reach due to poor maintainance of roads.

Zanjira is surrounded by water on all sides and has a fresh water lake. Boat rides from the Murud take you to the fort, giving you about 30 minutes for exploration.

Note-

On Friday, there’s no service from 12 noon-2 pm.

Ferry charges for adults- Rs 61 , kids- Rs 30

Ferry will wait only for 45 minutes and same will bring you back.

Photography without tripod is allowed.

Post lunch we headed towards MATHERAN . We arrived at Narel around 4.00pm (45 minutes before )from where only separate taxis for rest of the journey are allowed( Rs 80 / person in a taxi of 5 people) till Aman lodge Railway Station. Matheran is one of the few places in the world where no motor vehicles are permitted.

From here there are various options for Matheran- Handrickshaw ( Rs550/ person with or without luggage), horse( Rs 450).

It was dark by the time we checked in the Byke Heritage Hotel and stayed overnight at the hotel.

Day :4(07 Jan) MATHERAN TO LONAVALA (1hr 35 min./ 60 KM )

Next morning we decided to explore Matheran which is known for its splendid beauty.

We boarded the toy train at 10.10 am from Matheran to Aman lodge Railway Station and proceeded to Lonavala.

We arrived at Lonavala around 1.00 pm and checked in Piccadle Resort.

Post lunch we headed for a short trip to KARLA Caves,Tungarli Lake, Valvan Dam, Tiger’s Leap .

The best of all were KARLA CAVES,ancient Buddhist Indian rock-cut caves at Karti near Lonavala.

NOTE- It is open till 5.00 pm . For Karla caves , people need to walk for 20 minutes from parking space. This track is same for Karla caves and one temple .

After having a great time at karla caves,we came to hotel and stayed overnight at the hotel.

Day :5 (08 Jan)LONAVALA TO MAHABALESHWAR (4hr 23 min./ 185 KM )

After breakfast, we checked out from the hotel. And proceeded to Mahabaleshwar. On the way we visited MAPRO FACTORY ( from lonavala- 3.15 hrs).

Mapro is one of the most modern, hygienic, quality-focussed fruit product manufacturing units in India. It is the leading processor of Strawberries in India and is famous for jams, crushes and syrup.

This entire route is blessed with strawberry plantations. So we decided to have lunch near one of the plantations at Visava.

Post lunch ,we headed towards the Famous historic Pratapgarh Fort just 35 km away from Mahabaleshwar.

NOTE- Vehicles for fort can go till parking .After 450 steps ,the journey starts for the fort . This same track will take you to Bhawani Mata temple within the fort. Entry to the fort is free.

Around 7.00 pm ,we reached TGL Grand legacy resort for a stay.

Day :6 (09 Jan) MAHABALESHWAR TO SHIRDI (8hr/ 310 KM )

After breakfast,we checked out from TGL Grand legacy resort.

Enroute we noticed sugarcane fields in Shirdi.

We checked in St.Lauren Spiritual Resort around 7.00 pm. In evening we took part in aarti and returned back to resort for dinner and overnight stay .

Day : 7(10 Jan ) SHIRDI TO SAPUTARA(5hr.30 min / 150 KM )

We began our morning to take part in morning aarti which is a famous attraction and a number of devotees visit every year.

NOTE- If you need to do quick darshan ,VIP pass of Rs 200 will be available at Gate No. 1 and entry to main Samadhi also starts from same gate.

Don't carry Mobile phone to Samadhi , Dwarkamai, Chavdhi.

After having dharshan ,we returned to the St.Lauren Spiritual Resort for breakfast and then left for Saputara.

On the way we got a chance to visit grape plantations in Ambaner.

After arriving Aakar Lords in Saputara around 3.30 pm.

After having refreshing tea ,we went for boating in Saputara lake.

Saputara lake offers a picturesque view of the hilly surroundings. It is a famous picnic and boat spot and tourists from all over love to spend some good time at this place.

Note- Saputara lake boating ( Rs 30 / person general boating, pedal boating- 160 / boat of four people).

After sightseeing at the Saputara Lake, we had a comfortable stay at the hotel.

Day :8 (11 Jan) (SAPUTARA- to MUMBAI (7hrs / 250 KM )

After breakfast we checked out from the hotel ,and started the day with sightseeing: seeking blessings at the Nageshwar Mahadev Temple located on the southern bank of the Saputara Lake. The surroundings of the temple offered breathtaking views.

IF TIME PERMITS, visit the beautiful Sunrise Point, Step Garden and Rose Garden. Enjoy visit to the exciting Rope way of Saputara.

After quick sightseeing we departed for MUMBAI and checked in Treebo New Castle around 5 pm due to traffic. After some rest we decided for some sightseeing- Mannat House, Bandra- Worli Sea link and Marine drive.

Day :9(12 Jan) MUMBAI DEPARTURE

After breakfast we checked out from the hotel and visited famous Linking Road, Bandra for quick shopping .

Post lunch we left for the airport to take our flight to Delhi.
