Mangalore - The Perfect Unwind

After a stressful few weeks at work, I decided to take off to a place where I knew no one. I picked Mangalore.

Mangalore is a simple laid back city and a great unwind, if you want to be away from the hustle-bustle yet stay in a city.

The Beaches

I visited 2 beaches, both around 15-20 km from the city. One is a sand beach and is crowded, the other is a rocky beach. If you are looking for peace and quiet, head to the rocky beach. Unless you know the seas, swimming at the rocky beach is dangerous.

The Churches

Milagres Church, St. Aloysius Chapel are magnificent structures. You can see the Portuguese influence in these structures.

Food

More than anything, I went all out on seafood. Food is great and decently priced.

People

Absolutely safe for women, Mangalore reminded me of Hyderabad 20 years ago. People are warm and hospitable. The staff in the hotel I stayed in looked out for my safety, like I am family. I felt so pampered and taken care of, I didn't feel like coming back. I met random people who took me around the city and I was absolutely safe.

Overall, an amazing low budget unwind.
