milky way shots using 18-55mm kit lens

Tripoto

Recently i went to my hometown to kangra , himachal pradesh . i wanted to shoot milky way galaxy as i heard alot about it and i want to experience it . I will share all the details below which will surely clear maximum people's doubt .

I saw a lot of pictures of milky way and many of them are either from leh or spiti which make people think that they have to travel to spiti to shoot milky way galaxy which is not correct , you can shoot milky way from any location far from light pollution and city.

equipment used :

Nikon d5200 , 18-55 mm 3.5 kit lens ( wide angle lens always recommended ) , nikon wireless remote , joby tripod (you can use any sturdy tripod )

App used to locate milkyway : star chart

Some tips :

> Use the aperture f point as low as possible , in this case it was 3.5

> Use maximum exposure time of 20 sec , exposure time more than 20 sec can cause capture of movement of stars and can make picture blurring and less sharped .

> shoot milky way before rise of moon or on no moon day.

>Use remote to avoid shake while pressing the trigger or use self timer option .

>Don't forget to off the auto focus of lens .

Thats it . I am not a astrophotographer , I just shared what i used to capture below pictures ( It was my first time) .
