Monsoon hangovers at Gokarna

Not wanting to spend another long weekend in thevciry, me and 3 of my friends decided to hit the roads to gokarna. We made the booking for the accommodations a week in advance. Since it was a long weekend most of the places that were open were already booked and we managed to get the last couple of rooms at Namaste Cafe.

Day 1

We started from Bangalore at 9 am and hit the tumkur road. For the first 400 odd kms, we drove along NH4. We stopped at a Kamath near Tumkur for breakfast.
The next stop was at a Punjabi dhaba just at the exit from the NH 4.
The rest of the drive was along narrower but extremely scenic roads. We reached gokarna at around 7 pm and it was raining like crazy. Since it was already too dark, we just hanged out at the cafe over beer and lip smacking seq food.

Day 2

We decided to do the om-half moon- paradise beach trek. The biggest mistake we made was that we didn't wear the right footwear. After getting lost in the jungles a couple of times we finally emerged at the half moon beach. It is a tiny stretch of sand and me and my friends were the only people at the beach.

The onward trek to Paradise beach was through the rocks by the sea. Paradise beach is slightly bigger than half moon and although it was deserted as well, during the peak season some crazy parties happen on the beach.

We did another 20 min trek and crossed a river to finally hit the main road again. We were lucky to come across an auto that took us back to the Om beach.

Later in the evening we went to Kudle beach. That beach is a paradise for people who want to swim in the sea. Although it's more crowded than the other beaches, its much longer as well and there are more options for food and accommodation.

The next morning we headed out of Gokarna tanned and totally refreshed.
