Money!

Lot of working ATM machines from multiple banks available on the market street.. Not all restaurants accept Card payments..

Mobile Network!

Perfectly Fine. Most of the hotels have Wifi..

Food!

Apart from the Fort, the most important thing to do in Jodhpur is to taste the different food items available nearby the market area.. Let me tell you the places I had marked before my trip..

Shahi Samosa: Famous for Samosa, Pyaz Kachori, Mirchi Pakoda ( All have the same filling, how pathetic! )

Shri Mishrilal Hotel: For Makhania Lassi.. 30inr

Bharat Chai: 10inr tea cup..

There are tons of good reviews for the 3 places I mentioned above.. But personally, I didnt like any of them..

I didnt even bother going to the Omlette shop which has a lot of praises too..

Janta Sweet Home: Really good sweets.. Try the Besan Laddu and thank me later..

I would highly recommend “The Currys” restaurant ( https://www.tripadvisor.in/Restaurant_Review-g297668-d8830796-Reviews-The_Curry_s-Jodhpur_Rajasthan.html )

It is a rooftop restaurant with the best ( trust me ) view of the fort.. Fond of Goat meat? ( mutton ), then do have the Laal mass and Mutton Handi.. When I visited here, many foreigners were already enjoying the fort view.. Drinks available.. Very Friendly and attentive staff.. Make sure you ask them to up/down the spice level of your food.. ( You should generally do this at all places )..

Points!

Mehrangarh Fort obviously! Take your time.. Put at least 3 hours here.. Its Beautiful, Strong and this is where you see the Blue City.. I wish if Nat Geo could make a Megastructure documentary of this fort..

Tip 1! The fort lights are switched off at around 9pm.. If you plan to see the night mode of the fort from a roof top restaurant, go there at least by 8pm..

Tip 2! The last entry for Mehrangarh fort stops at 5pm.. You can enter the fort at 5pm.. Enjoy sunset and stay there until kicked out..

There are Zipline activities at the fort.. 6 Ziplines.. have fun..

I dont recommend visiting Umaid Bhawan Palace Museum.. Go there only if you have an extra day or something.. Its far and hardly anything for visitors..

The auto rickshaw should charge you something below 100inr from market area to Fort top and same while coming back..

Jaswant Thada is OK.. Nothing great about it.. It is a good place for couples to take selfies etc..

Also see Rao Jodha Ji Statue en-route Fort and Jaswant Thada..

Another important thing to do is Walk.. Walk in those narrow streets of Jodhpur at evening.. Get lost in them.. Its fun.. I too got lost searching for a restaurant.. Dont try to take an auto rickshaw for everything.. All places are walk-able..

There are Mandore Gardens around 10km from Jodhpur.. If you plan to see them, ask the locals/hotel managers about the state run bus service.. I think its 15inr ticket one-way.. Do not take auto rickshaw and waste a lot of money.. These buses are frequent..

Stay!

I loved my stay at Om Heritage.. Its a little on the inside from the main market, but its a great place to stay at a reasonable rate.. Check booking.com or goibibo.com for good offers.. There are plenty of reasonable options and guesthouses too at cheaper accommodations..

People!

Yup, friendly.. Specially the ones who own shops or are part of a restaurant..

Extra Tips!

Avoid travelling here in Summer.. 2016 May temperature was 51C.. Arid!
