Mumbai Meri Jaan

Tripoto

There is a certain aura of this place that makes you fall in love with it. I definitely did.

Mumbai City is the hub of Bollywood and a city where people come from all over India to pursue their dreams and make it their abode. I feel this city is very welcoming to the strangers who come here with a dream & realise it.

I visited the city in November during Diwali & it was lit with lights all over. The small Jhopadi (hut), the Apartments, the Bungalows & the Commercial Centres were decorated in all its splendour for the festivity.

With a short visit to this city I shortlisted a few places to explore:

Gateway of India

The first in the list was the Gateway of India.

The Gateway of India, Mumbai

This historic structure overlooks the Arabian Sea & was constructed to memorialize the visit of King George V & Queen Mary to India in 1911.This is a famous tourist attraction which is right opposite The Taj Group of Hotels.

From here you can stroll towards the Coloba Street shopping area which is half a km away. You can shop for handbags, Juttis, Accessories & Cloths and a lot more. Since this market is near the Taj wherein a lot of foreigners stay the vendors tend to quote a high price for the products. Being the Indian you are don’t forget to use your skill of bargaining.

This street also houses the famous ‘Leopold Café’. After you’re tired with all the shopping & bargaining you can grab a drink & chill at this place.

Marine Drive

It is a serene place to spend some time alone or with your loved ones overlooking the sea & the sea gulls. Many people come here for their routine walk.

It is right opposite the Trident Hotel & there is also a Theatre nearby.

Chowpatty Beach

You can also visit this beach to enjoy the sunset & savour on some Chaats available here.

Sadly the beach is polluted & quite crowded.

Bandra – Worli Sea Link

You can also take a long drive in the Bandra – Worli sea link which is a beautiful bridge constructed with steel viaducts on either side. This road looks spectacular at night when the lights are all light up.

If you are planning for a longer visit to Mumbai you can also check out the following attractions:

Elephanta Caves: It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is located on the Elephanta Island in Mumbai Harbour & is connected by ferry services from the Gateway of India.

Alibaugh: It is located about 120 km south of Mumbai & is famous for its beaches.

Lonavla: It is a hill station which is 96 km from the city of Mumbai

Happy Traveling! :-)
