Day 1

Ooty is one of the most beautiful hill stations located in the Nilgiris mountain range in the state of Tamil Nadu. It is reachable by all means of transportation. I made it by bike this time from Bengaluru, Karnataka. Its around 330 km from my house which is in Yelahanka, Bengaluru and it took us almost 8 hours to cover this distance. The road is awesome with a patch of Bandipur forest in between because of which the route is reachable only in the daytime. For night riders, the route changes from Bengaluru through Hosur-Salem-Coimbatore-Ooty which is too long as compared to the default route Bengaluru-Mysore-Bandipur-Ooty. After the adventurous ride including 36 hairpin bends, you will be entering in this beautiful town, also known as the Princess of Hill stations welcoming you with open arms drowning you in the picturesque view at each and every turn of the road.

Reached Hotel Darshan located near the famous Ooty lake, which I booked on MMT 1 week before the trip. Stay, view from hotel, food quality, location and hospitality of the staff is commendable. After delicious lunch from the in-house restaurant of Darshan, we thought to explore the city and reached the highest view point of Ooty which is called Doddabetta peak. The view is amazing, but it'll be crowded which doesnt let you enjoy the peacefulness of the place. After that we headed towards Tea and chocolate factory which is on the way while returning to the city. One time experience is must to visit the factory where you get know the struggle of the people plucking the tea leaves and getting to the factory post which the grinding and process of making tea is carried out. Evening time is worth spending at the 9 mile shooting location which is 13 km from Ooty. It is considered as the most beautiful place in Ooty giving a spectacular 360° view surrounded by the Nilgiri mountains. After visiting these places we returned to the Hotel and had our dinner at the rooftop enjoying the view of dim lights of the city with the beautiful reflection in the lake. The day was over followed by the peaceful and undisturbed sleep.

Day 2

This was the next day, beautiful morning of Sunday in Ooty. Day started with a cup of tea and discussing the plans for the day, which concluded in visiting the Boat house, Toy train station and one waterfall. But due to office on Monday morning, we had to make it quick and reach Bengaluru asap. Boat House was the nearest place - in front of our Hotel which we explored first and enjoyed boating in this beautiful lake surrounded by tall palm and pine trees. Then we checked out from the Hotel Darshan and loaded our bikes with the lugguage and headed towards Toy train station. The rails and platform literally gave the feel of toy trains. Unfortunately we could not see the real toy train but its dummy model is demonstrated on the station which attracts the visitors. Finally we visited one waterfall which required a half km walk. Since our lugguage was loaded on the bikes, we couldnt make it. So finished visiting all the places by afternoon and then left for Bengaluru. On the way back, we saw one Kerala style restaurant in the valley with a bit foggy weather and greenery all around. We had Biryani in our lunch. Normally we should not eat much while riding as it makes you feel sleepy, but I tried Kerala food for the first time and could not stop myself. Fortunately the weather while returning changed a bit and it became an adventurous ride in the valleys which did not let me feel sleepy at all. We covered the distance till Mysore and took half an hour break. Now it was 180 km left for Bengaluru and we made it in another 3 hours. Reached home safely with the unforgettable and awesome memories of this trip.
