My 3 Fav Monsoon Spots in my City- the "City of Joy" Kolkata #monsoonspots

Tripoto

I belong to one of the oldest and its own kind of beautiful city, the land of Durga Puja, known as “CITY of JOY” -Kolkata. Most of the people of West Bengal eagerly wait for the rainy season like anything as it comes as the most wanted relief after the hot and sultry summer. In Kolkata, it used to rain almost continuously for several days. So during the rain breaks, when the sky is full of clouds, the trees are all green, the roads are wet, the weather becomes a pleasant one with cool breeze and you are stuck inside the room/office because of continuous rains and you are waiting for a break as well as a rain break to enjoy the monsoon view of Kolkata, why not to explore some coolest places in Kolkata during Monsoon!! So come on trippers, let me take you to my 3 favourite monsoon spots in my city.

3. A trip to Eco Park, New Town.

This Eco Tourism Park has everything to offer you. This is the newest and coolest attraction of the city. You can enjoy a half day trip with waterside strolling or Cycling inside the park, boating, kayaking, paint ball, ice skating, nature walk and many more. Even one can get to see the replicas of 7-wonders of the world. The lake has even an island with beautiful cottages and a restaurant called “Café Ekante”. One can take a boat ride to the Island and enjoy a meal at “Café Ekante” with a lake view. Booking a staycation in one of those cottages and enjoy the rain is not a bad idea. The entry fee to the Park is only Rs. 30. My favourite part of this Park is to chill with friends sitting beside the lake and enjoy the view with the cool breeze, a cup of hot tea and some munchies. Because it’s the little things in life that matter most.

2. A Ganga/Hooghly riverside walk, Princep ghat and a boat ride on the river Hooghly.

Oh! I simply love this. Princep Ghat is a ghat built in 1841 during the British Raj, along the Kolkata bank of the Hooghly River in India. This place is always been the photographer’s delight. The magnificent view of Vidyasagar Bridge in the backdrop of the Princep memorial, a leisure walk along the bank of the river Hooghly and enjoying some “chatpata” street foods and then lastly enjoying a boat ride on the river will make this trip just perfect.

1. A visit to Victoria memorial followed by a heritage tram ride along with a leisure walk in and around the Maidan ground

A morning trip to Victoria Memorial during the rain break is definitely a must do during rainy season. The view of this drenched white monument with a backdrop of dark clouds and lush green makes it No. 1 for me. The beautiful lush green maidan just opposite to Victoria memorial complements the beauty of Victoria memorial. A heritage tram ride is a must do experience. And don’t miss the beautiful “tanga” ride experience around the maidan.
