I have been trying to visit the Island of gozo for many many years now. Finially I managed to visit this March. And what a wonderful trip this was.
I spent 10 days doing 2 dives daily, one in the morning, one in the evening or at night. Here's the services I used.
Flight - Airmalta
Accomodation - Calyso Hotel in Marsalforn Gozo
Car Rental - Mayjo
Diving Centre - Atlantis Diving Center. They provide all the equipment so you do not have to travel with heavy gear with you
Going out - There are a lot of good restaurants in Gozo. My favorite one is ta carolina in Xlendi. Amazing fish and pasta dishes. The food is not very expensive. 1 Pasta dish costs about 10 euro on average and pizza costs 8 euro on average. There is the supermarket chain Lidil in Victoria as well, which is very cheap if you want to buy groceries.
Why Gozo and Malta?? - so much history, rich culture, good food an nice people. The life in gozo is very laid back, in Malta its more of a commercial hub. Gozo is still very traditional. Even though the island is very small, there a lot to see and do. Ggantija, and cittadella are a must see. There's also a lot of churches you can visit, Ta pinu in Gharb and the round dome church in Xewkija are must be the biggest 2
Malta - Malta as I said is more buzy but well worth a visit. Do not miss Valletta, a Unesco word heritage city with a lot to do and see. You can book a day tour with a private guide. I visited the opera house, cathedral and armory. The upper barrakka is a must visit for the views.
Is it safe? - Yes, gozo people are very much still living the traditional life, they even leave the keys in their car!!
All in all, I would love to visit Gozo and Malta again one day. Its well worth it, the beaches are stunning, the food is yummy, its clean, peaceful and there is so much to do and see.
A special thank you goes to Brian from Atlantis Diving who was my guide for the trip.
