Journey to Spiti Valley was ride to a fairyland where nature still exists untouched & holds its raw beauty.
I went for this bagpacking trip with travel group -WanderOn, approx cost of package was 22k plus 5k for expenses during the tour . I chose spiti valley winter expedition.
We started late night from Delhi , reached Shimla early morning where we freshened up and started our journey for Chitkul (last Indian Village on India China Border).Despite some challenges we managed to reached at night. Chitkul village is like a painting (river, mountains, bridges, pine trees ,snow covered peaks)holding its earthiness. Thanks to amazing fellow travelers and WanderOn Captains for making the journey as lively as possible . Must Visit!
Next day we started our journey for Kalpa where we took a night halt to start our Spiti valley expedition next morning. We started another long journey to reach Spiti valley crossing -Sumdo->Nako->kaza. Terrain changed drastically on entering Spiti, vegetation is replaced by brown carved mountains and temperature drops drastically in evening. We stayed at SAKYA BODE; KAZA.I never imagined having such a comfortable stay at such a high altitude. Perfect view of snow-covered peaks from the hotel was mesmerizing even at night. Sky lit with stars and moon making it magical wanting you watch them whole night.
Next day we visited popular site seeing points - Key Monastery, Hikkim (world's highest Post office), Komic (world’s highest motorable village). Every view in Spiti is picturesque.Live & absorb every bit of it.
On our last day at Spiti valley we travelled far to witness the most beautiful - Pin Valley. It was a white wonderland, far stretched and beyond . One would not like to depart the place embracing calmness of mountains and warmth of people . All hearts to our pilot – CHAMPA who made our road trip unforgettable & fun filled.
I would recommend to visit it in winters to witness the white and less touristy Spiti. Do not wait for a companion, go out & see the world, and spread happiness. ❤️❤️
