With Nainital, I have a special nostalgic bond. In my early childhood, I spent some wonderful time here with my family. My father, a Christian Pastor, stayed at the Sattal Church Ashram for studies, and that gave us the chance to explore this beautiful hill town.
I still remember my first visit—it was with my brother-in-law’s family during the monsoon. And believe me, Nainital is at its best in the rains. The clouds hugging the mountains, the fresh roads, and the greenery all around made it unforgettable.
Some of the must-visit places we enjoyed:
Naini Lake – the heart of the town, perfect for boating, especially at sunset.
Naina Devi Temple – just beside the lake, a serene spiritual spot.
Naina Peak – the highest point in Nainital, easy to trek and offering breathtaking views.
St. John’s Church – a peaceful old British-era church.
Jama Masjid – the main mosque, close to Naini Lake.
Governor’s House – a heritage building from colonial times.
Tiffin Top – a lovely viewpoint to enjoy the mountain scenery.
Hanuman Garhi – a small yet popular Hanuman temple.
Golu Devta Temple (Ghorakhal) – an important temple in the Kumaon region.
Nainital Zoo – a fun visit if you are travelling with children.
Sariyatal – a small, quiet lake.
Woodland Waterfall – a refreshing spot near Sariyatal.
Lake hopping – nearby gems like Sattal, Bhimtal, and Naukuchiatal.
Every corner of Nainital carries a memory for me—from quiet church visits to family picnics by the lake. It’s not just a destination, but a part of my story. For more detailed experience, read our blog
