Having so many friends in the south who keep going on so many weekend getaways, we North Indians sometimes find us as the unfortunate lot. But if we really look around even we have a lot of options. So as my first weekend getaway of 2017 I chose Nainital as my safest bet. Since Nainital is real close to Delhi and the drive takes a mere 6 hrs, three of my friends decided to make it a road trip. We left Delhi at 6:00 am in the morning and with 2 haults on the way for breakfast and toilet we reached Nainital at around 1:00pm. Since we didn't do any advance Hotel booking so we looked for hotels there only and booked one on Mall Road overlooking the Tal lake. After taking a 2 hour nap we got ready and left our rooms to enjoy the beauty of the place. Since Tal lake was right in front of us we decided to take a boat ride across the lake first and then we'll do anything else. The Boat ride was an experience in itself. Since it was off season so the streets weren't so crowded and I loved it best that way. Finally after the sunset we went for a stroll and reached the Bada bazaar which is the main market of Nainital. The lane is full of candle shops with the most amazing candles you would have ever seen in your life. I went mad for the candles and bought more than 30 pieces of different designs for family and friends. On the same road there is a sweet shop which sells bal mithai. I couldn't afford missing that one bacause eating that mithai was a part of my childhood. My grandfather always bought one box for me whenever he went to Nainital. meandering in the gullies of nainital we reached Nainital Momos shop and I ate the best momos of my life there. I even shopped some woollen items at dirt cheap prices. After all this shopping we went to have dinner at Zooby's kitchen which is situated on the mall road itself. The food was delicious and budget-friendly at the same time.
This day was very touristy for us since we decided to see all that Nainital had to offer. Ofcourse due to time constraint we couldn't see everything but still managed to go to all the main places. We hired a driver for the entire day who showed us around the town. He took us to Tiffin Top, Naina Peak, Snow view point, Tibetan market and the Nainital Ropeway. There are certain spots which they just show in order to increase the number of their spots but they weren't worth the time and the effort. It was around 6:00pm by the time we completed the sight seeing. Since all of us had to go to office the other day we decided to leave that night itself. So we left Nainital at around 7:00pm bidding goodbye to the beautiful place it is.
