It was just after our marriage. We were visiting her relatives at trivandrum and while asking for places worth visiting, the name Neyyar Dam popped up along with kovalam beach, padmanabha swami temple etc .
Neyyar Dam is about 30 kms travel distance from trivandrum city. We got the two wheeler from her relative and rode off.
On our way, we took little detour to visit kovalam beach. Spend some time over there, had lunch and left for Neyyar.
We didn't use GPS, instead we followed the sign boards and asked the locals for directions when in doubt. After some 2 hours of journey and some snacks in between we finally reached neyyar by around 4. 30 pm, which was already late. A lady staff over there even told us to hurry as it will get dark soon.
But I must admit. It was all worth it. Once we reached the top of the dam. The view from there towards the lake and the mountains was simply awesome.
We went on top of the watch tower and that's where we saw the sunset from.
We spend some time over there. Afterwards visited the aquarium. Spent some time in the gardens and left by dawn.
Even after 3 years i remember the journey, the place and the sunset as yesterday. I hope last years heavy monsoon has not made any damages to the beautiful valley.
