Lately, on our trip to Kasol, we were driving continuously from our hometown Shimla. It was December and the weather was like jack frost is nipping at your nose.
We were really tired and were looking forward to a warm and cozy stay for a night. With rapidly increasing numbers of visitors, numerous stay options have come up as of late. Luckily we came across a resto-bar which none of us were familiar with so we decided to check it out.
The place was named ‘Mary Jane’ which was as arresting as the place itself. The place had a magnetic aura with air filled with weed and music.
Before we entered Mary Jane we heard someone singing which made us more curious about what this place would be like.
When we entered Mary Jane, we saw a Russian guy singing a reggae song in his native language. I didn’t understand anything but the music was so soothing it kind of connected with me. After that, some other guy stood on the platform and started to sing his own chorus.
The person whose voice filled the room had amazing vocals. Later I got to know that he's the lead singer of the ‘Swastik’ band along with the guitarist accompanying him. The singer then asked a random guy, who was from Mumbai if he wanted to sing.
The guy was pleased with the offer. He later turned out to be an outstanding vocalist. What are the odds, when you visit someplace and where you decide to stay the night, that place is full of musician and all you want is to listen to those soothing songs and enjoying the music?
That day we got high on mellow music and the feeling was wondrous. That day I realized what true peace is. People from different nations with a different genres of music were there and all of them were enjoying the music.
I think that’s what music does, right? Music unites the soul and is not limited to religion or the place fro where you belong.
Later that night we checked into our room which was cozy and beautifully designed. They also had amazing dining with delicious cuisines.
About Mary Jane
This place has live music which only a few Restobars offer in Kasol, plus the disco which is an add on. These guys wanted to restore the losing vibe of Kasol. As earlier, it was famous for trance fests but govt has banned the trance fests hence Kasol is losing its tourism. So they will organize reggae parties, house trance, beatbox, rapping and much more.
So now they will gather musicians who will travel all over the world and host jam sessions, independent bands and performances and occasional parties in disco so that other restaurants also learn and adapt accordingly and make Kasol famous for music again.
This place had met our high hopes and was much more than my words could explain.
So why don't you visit kasol and relive the vibes that kasol had once in Mary Jane?
