A nightmare dream to real life exploration.
Well that sounds some strange right. So, lets propagate further to find out what exactly I wanted to say by above first line sentence.
It's about a trip which we dreamed of and implemented next day by bookings.
Yes a North - East trip which was unplanned, no idea of routes and where to go. But still we researched, digged out information, planned our own route and yes it was successful.
Plan:
- Kolkata was our first destination in the bucketlist. From there we wanted to see next Mt. Kanchanchunga, so we travelled Darjeeling.
- We wanted to cross one country(Bangladesh) to reach east, that's possible by air travel. So we travelled Assam, Guwahati.
- To explore bit of east more, shillong meghalaya was on the list.
- This is not the end, we wanted to cross country again to reach Kolkata and explore its nightlife and taste of Rasgulla.
- That's a complete Traingular shape we covered, if you visualize the places which i illustrated above.
Mumbai to Kolkata :
Travelled by train which took more than 30 hours and 2 nights in train to reach.
It was bit exciting to reach Kolkata, explore the city, experience thier stay and culture.

2. To explore the underground metro

4. Victoria memorial
5. Indian Museum
6. Park Street and Eden Gardens
Kolkata To Darjeeling :
Take a flight from Kolkata to Siliguri (Bagdogra Airport) from there it is 94 kms to darjeeling.
Airport cabs charge too much around 1-2k to reach Darjeeling. I recommend to go out of airport, get auto to darjeeling mod stand and from there ample shared cabs are available which cost around 200-250 rs per head to Darjeeling.

3. Padmaja Baidu Himalayan Darjeeling zoo
4. Japanese peace pagoda
5. Himalayan railway
6. Buddhist Temples
Darjeeling to Guwahati:
We came to siliguri early morning to catch a flight to Assam, guwahati.
The view was breathtaking beautiful with Himalayan peaks all around.
On reaching Guwahati to Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport, we took cab and went to OYO hotel.
Places to visit :
1. Pobitora wildlife sanctuary
2. Kamakhya Temple
3. Assam state zoo
4. Assam state museum
5. Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra
6. Saraighat bridge.
Guwahati to Shillong :
To reach we took a vehicle and went by a road as it's 2-3 hours of journey.
One can visit the main places and can back to guea same day at night.
Places to visit :
1. Umiam lake
2. Elephant falls
3. Shillong peak
4. Don Bosco museum
5. Sweet falls.
Guwahati to Kolkata:
Again back to Bengal city to check out the nightlife, walk on howrah Bridge and taste the Rasgulla before heading back to Mumbai.
Best time to visit : From October to May
Total cost of trip: 17k Rs approx / head
Mumbai to Kolkata and return 🚅: 1.5k Rs
Kolkata to Darjeeling ✈️: 2.5k Rs
Darjeeling to guwahati ✈️: 1k Rs
Guwahati to Kolkata ✈️: 2k Rs
Darjeeling hotel,food and cab (day tour) : 700+500+1000 =2.2 k
Kolkata hotel,food and day tour :500 + 750+750 = 2k
Guwahati hotel, food and day tour : 750+750+1000 =2.5k
Shillong tour and food : 1.5k
