The three-day North East Festival showcasing art and culture of the region through a range of exhibitions, discussions and cultural performances from came to an end here today.
In its third installment, the organisers said the festival witnessed a footfall of over 3 lakh people.
Tourism was the central theme of the year and an elaborate range of programmes from painting, photography, fashion shows cartoon exhibition, handloom-handicrafts stalls, dance and musical performances were put on display for Delhities to get acquainted with the region.
"We have chosen tourism as the central theme this year for the North East Festival as we want to showcase the region as a great travel destination for travellers across India and abroad," organiser-in-chief, North East Festival, Shyamkanu Mahanta said.
There were sessions held on strategic issues of the region. Special sessions on the importance of North East and the Act East Policy were discussed in the course of extravaganza.
Discussion on the topic of the potential of the food processing industry and the impact of North East Industrial policy also took place.
A session was dedicated to pressing issue of erosion of Majuli, the world's largest river island.
The closing day saw performances by some of the biggest names in music from the North East including Zubeen Garg, Parikrama, Girish and The Chronicles, Late Too Soon, MSonic.
