Easily accessible from most cities in India and yet far away from the crowds, it is the perfect place to get your much-needed detox. Located in this region, very close to the famous Tarkarli beach in Konkan, lies Sindhudurg’s best kept secret and a perfect destination for all beach lovers.

Located close to the town of Parule, Bhogwe beach is one of the most pristine and secluded beaches in Maharashtra. With it’s unending stretch of the beach, scattered with rocks and views of the nearby forts, Bhogwe offers much you the perfect getaway option. Known for it’s white sand and clean waters, it is yet thankfully ignored by the mass population who visit the nearby popular beaches of Tarkarli and Goa, giving it a peaceful vibe for the niche population who prefer having a relaxing vacation instead.

This idyllic beach in the western shores of Sindhudurg district is famous for being the merging point of river Karli and the Arabian sea. A popular attraction here is watching majestic views of the Karli river mingling with sea waters from Devbaug’s famous Mobara Point with dolphins jumping in the background.

Situated close to the Bhogwe beach is the famous Nivati fort which is situated on a high hill named Kochara in Vengurla Taluka. This fort was once in charge of the British Government after one of the officers won it in the 18th century. Not only is it rich in history but a trek up this hill offers you magnificent views of the surroundings.

Apart from Bhogwe beach, the nearby beaches at Niyati, Devbag and Khavane are also famous for dolphin spotting. These dolphins are used to human presence and hence offer quite a view. A special project is being carried out for this by the Forest Department of Sindhudurg.

Bhogwe is a beach lover’s paradise and you can hop onto the other nearby beaches of Tarkarli, Malvan and Kudal in just a few minutes from here. The region is also famous for it’s seasonal production of mangoes, cashews, coconut and other fresh produce which can be enjoyed during your stay here.

Bhogwe is famous for homestays and eco-stay resorts made of bamboo and cane. Surrounded by lush greenery, most of these stay cool enough for you to relax even in summers. A lot of these homestays are family run properties and hence offer you warm, homely service while relaxing and taking in views of these beaches.

How to reach

By Air: The nearest airport is located at Sindhudurg (5 km.), which was opened recently. Apart from this, Goa Dabolim airport is also conveniently located just 122 km. away from Bhogwe.

By Rail: The nearest railway station to reach Bhogwe is Kudal(22 km.), Sindhudurg(5 km.) and Kankavli(55 km.) with trains connecting these to major cities in India through Konkan railway. From here, you can hire a cab or an auto to reach your destination.

By Road: You can reach Bhogwe via Kudal(22 km.) or Kankavli(55 km.) through the Goa state highway. Many state and private owned buses from Mumbai, Pune, Satara , Goa and other nearby destinations are available to reach these two cities.
