Marken and Volendam are the traditional Dutch fisherman’s villages. Its about half an hour from Amsterdam and is a really good day trip to make. You will find spans of grass with cows lazily grazing them.The wooden houses are very pretty, the windows are a speciality here . The lace screens are famous and the gardens are overly decorated. You will feel like living there when you visit them. There are a cheese making farms and wooden show making museums around. You find amazing fresh friend sea food.

Volendam and marken can be commuted by boat or by bus. There is a big dockyard and with yachts parked and cute houses along the coast.  Summer and spring are the best time to visit these villages
