Literally feels like a long time ago in a kingdom far, far away, when I was allowed to travel !
As a travel enthusiast, cooped up in the house for almost 2 months feels like the tenth circle of Dante’s Hell made for wanderers at heart like myself. Luckily for me I was able to take a trip to Goa. Yes, yes… I know it sounds cliché but travel is travel and Goa happens to be one of my favourite destinations ! And you will fall in love with it too once you have seen my pictures.
When I undertook the journey, people were already in the state of panic and were suggesting not to undertake unnecessary travel. But it was work for me for the first couple of days extended further for my leisure stay. This had been my most worrisome bus journey to Goa yet. I kept requesting the universe to keep me safe whilst being cooped up in a crowded bus.
After saying goodbye to the last participant of the event organised by me, I travelled to my favourite place in all of Goa Palolem. There is something about the whispering winds here..
So here is how the routine worked. Wake up every morning, go birding, have an amazing breakfast at one of the shacks, by the sea ofcourse, take a dip in the sea, head back, post a nap, sit at the balcony with my laptop with a bottle of Bira and some peanuts. My balcony offers peace and quiet along with the breath-taking view of entire Palolem beach playing peek-a-boo with the palms against the backdrop of the crashing waves.
Get lots of work done before hunger strikes, order for some yummy schezwan noodles. And that’s when you head back to the beach for a swim again or simply walk the entire length of the beach. Head to one of the shacks, maybe the one with live music and watch the day come to a close while sipping on the drinks and let the sky turn deep purple before I head back to my balcony where I can reflect and listen to the soothing waves and with wind in my hair.
To add to this routine, I did take a trip to the Honeymoon Island and on the dolphin safari. Not only did I see dolphins, I ended up spotting the white-bellied sea eagle! I also added a trip to Patnem and it was simply lovely. But Palolem is home.
This is how I spend my time at Palolem, but you could travel around more to Madgao market, Doodhsagar waterfalls, Butterfly conservatory, spice plantations, Galgibaga- one of the most secluded beaches in Goa and much more.
If I delayed my return but came back on time because if I had delayed by just 2 more days I would have been stranded on the beaches of Goa. Now would that be so bad ?
