Day 1

During my Euro Trip 2019 ,I was in Salzburg on 25th September and I felt that this Central European city is much over rated than it deserves, So I thought to pen down my experience what made me feel so.Im my opinion Salzburg is an Overrated Destination when compared to other cities which have much more to offer in pocket friendly ways.

Firstly sharing majority of its border with Germany on one side its kind of a german territory where language is the first issue which is very difficult to interpret and communicate with locals.Secondly all central European countries offer the same flaura and fauna like they have many castles and museums and river in the centre of the city , famous bridges. To name them I saw Budapest and Prague which both are better options in my opinion when compared to Salzburg.
Budapest is so pocket friendly yet a European developing country but equally beautiful happening with bridges ,castles ,river & cruise, pub crawling and everything in 1/10th of the cost what you would pay for the same stuff in Salzburg. Same applies to Prague which is famous for its parties and monuments and castles. Moreover what I felt this city is much hyped because of the Mozarts birthplace that could be one reason other than that there is nothing much. Its very expensive in terms of accomodation where in Budapest I stayed in Rs2500 for 2 night in an awesome all equipped apartment I paid 5000+taxes in Salzburg which was away from city very painful to go and to and fro the central town and if you have to stay in city centre is too costly.Even the food and drinks were very expensive.

While catching the bus people want to help but they couldnt communicate in English which was an issue we couldn't understand each other whereas the same situation in Budapest and Prague it was much easy. Vienna being the capital of Austria it deserves all the attention as it has a lot to offer monuments street food, accomodation of all kinds plus very nice connectivity to everywhere. Also around 9pm everything was so silent and quiet that we had to go back to hotel and chill on our own though it was  not even that cold.A day more I would have nothing to do there I saw all monuments and castles and tourist attraction what would have I done a day more here ?

As soon as we reached our Hotel away from centre point and the Train station  we felt where next we have to go, so its not what we expected secondly its not a very touristy place trust me, There is nothing special which other cities dont have except the Mozart birthplace. Another reason why I felt that its underrated is that I came from Switzerland to Salzburg ought to be, swiss is swiss natural beauty, tourist destination everyone is expected to know english offer the best they have so after coming from Swiss to Salzburg we had the same image in mind so thats another reason.

In my opinion If I would inter change one city instead of Salzburg I would have gone to Slovenia, Bratislava,Croatia - If your a G.o.T fan and beach person you will see Adriatic Sea which is beautiful (to see the same beauty in less € as they are less touristy )or extended in Prague which is again weaker currency than Euro and anytime much more happening than this city.

At the end if your itenary have only Central Europe - Prague,Austria & Budapest...Then you should consider Vienna and Innsbruck and if you have more time then Salzburg and Hallstatt. But if your coming from Switzerland like me that you have seen something much better than this so you can skip and try other neighbouring cities /countries.

This article is not to offend anybody or prove someome is wrong or right but this is what I felt given a choice I would change and see some other city as Salzburg was not a city I would want to go back and hence was not my cup of tea. At the other hand someone interested in history or music would love to be here as per their interest.

Happy seeing around the world :)
