It was 1st week of December, and I got message on Facebook messenger, "Mady, we want your 360° Camera to shoot something special with your expertise. You will take rent or you like to go for Paramotor Joyride?" I quickly reply "of course Joyride"
Then we contact each other and they told me one person is going to jump from paramotor with help of parachute and we want best shots of it.
I have one Insta 360 camera, but I never recorded something like this before. I started searching videos for base jump and parachute jumps. Checking various angles. But nothing special I got. All are same kinda videos. Someone mounting cameras on helmet, some mount on chest. All views are same. You can see what jumper can see on top. I don't want to shoot the same thing. I want jumper in the frame. I wanted to shoot a video which never shot before.
I started trying different mounts at different places. After many brainstorming session finally I decided to mount my 360 camera on jumpers chest or on helmet with 2 feet invisible stick.
I met the person on site who is going to jump. His name was Sajid Chougle, we talked about different angles and my idea to get beat video. He was comfortable with everything. So for the best shot he jumped 3 times from paramotor from the height of 3000 feet.
At 1st time because of confusion he accidentally turn off the camera instead of turn on. So no video at 1st time. 2nd time he took camera with stick in hand, but we unable to get proper video. Finally at 3rd time I mount a camera with stick on his helmet. Camera itself hides stick in video. And after a long process we got the best parachute jump recorded ever.
After successful jump and successful videos I also enjoyed Paramotor Ride at 1500 feet height. Both experience and experiments was amazing.
