Home isn't the best place to spend this mother's day, so the mountains is where you go!

It's the Mother's Day weekend, guys! The world is a terrible, terrible place, and everyone around us is selfish to the core. There's only one person who cares about you unconditionally from your first breath till your last – your biological mother. As soon as she gave birth to you, she made a secret pact with herself to make you the biggest priority of her life; and she did not hesitate a least bit while doing so.

While we may never be able to repay her for what she does for us every day, we can always strive to reassure her that she is a significant part of our life as well. Mother's Day 2020 is right around the corner and you won't get a better chance to shower her with love. All of us at Tripoto are taking our respective mothers out for a vacation, and feel you should do the same. Every mother is different and hence we've listed down 10 different vacation ideas to appeal to all kinds of moms. Go, splurge on her!

Travel ideas for Mother's Day 2020

If your mother loves the occasional physical adventure in her life, then head to Rishikesh with her for river rafting. It is a sufficiently safe sport that she will enjoy. This will be an experience she will cherish for a long time and moreover you'll find it funny to see her strapped inside a life jacket & a helmet, trying to row across turbulent waters. It is only a mothers day weekend job, so book a hotel in Rishikesh right away.

2. For the mother who is a mountain girl

After all the hard work she puts in every single day, your mother needs time away to recuperate. And nothing helps you forget the drudgeries of life better than some time away in the hills. Take your mother for a weekend trip to Landour, near Mussoorie. Originally built by the British Army in 1827, this tiny hamlet is still full of Victorian charm for an experience completely away from urban city life. I've also found the perfect cottage to stay, so your mother can witnesses Landour in all its glory and tranquility. One of the best ideas to celebrate Mother's Day 2020.

3. For the mom who loves to hit the road

Some moms just wanna have fun, so why not give them an outlet to go wild by going on a crazy road trip with just them. If you live in Delhi like I do, I suggest taking the GT-Karnal route till Chandigarh and then heading for Kasauli the next day. The reason why I suggest this route is because it's scenic and is replete with fantastic dhabas along the way (including the ultra-famous Amrik Sukhdev Dhaba in Murthal). You can book great hotels in Chandigarh and gorgeous homestays in Kasauli right away if you're interested.

4. For the mom who loves to scale peaks

Doing an easy weekend trek with your mother is an amazing idea, and it becomes exponentially more relevant on a mothers day weekend. If your mother is reasonably fit and open to trekking, I must recommend the sublime trek to Prashar Lake in Himachal Pradesh. The experience involves travelling all the way to Mandi, staying there for a day to explore the gorgeous district, and proceeding for the trek on the following morning. The trek is short enough to enjoy it without being physically stressed, and yet long enough to give your mother a sense of achievement after completing it. The captivating 360 view of the entire Prashar Valley at the pinnacle is a sight she will remember for the rest of her life.

5. For the mom who digs getting pampered

If you've never seen your mother sit down and take a breath, then you need to spoil her by checking her into the Ananta Spa & Resort in Pushkar. This luxurious spa resort boasts of a health club, an outdoor pool with sundecks and amazing poolside cabanas. Get her a room with a private balcony and unprecedented views of the gorgeous Aravallis. A great idea to pamper her mind, body and soul, I say! One of the best places to go on Mothers Day.

6. For the mom who seeks nirvana

In Buddhist tradition, Vipassana means an insight into the true nature of reality through three marks of existence, namely impermanence, suffering and the realisation of non-self. If your mother is into spirituality and meditation, there isn't a better gift than checking her into a Vipassana meditation centre. A 10-day stint inside the centre will change her worldly views forever and help her feel at peace. There are several stories on how the strict Vipassana routines alter a human being forever, you can read one here. If interested, you can check out Vipassana meditation centres in India here. One of the most peaceful places to go on Mothers Day.

7. For the mom who is a water baby

Who doesn't like Goa, honestly! And if your mother enjoys the sun drowning into the endless sea while sipping on a beer inside a hippie shack, look no further and book a flight to Panaji right away. If she has never been to Goa before, make sure you book a stay at Calangute Beach because that's where all the fun is. If she has already been to Calangute and Baga, I strongly recommend a stay at Arambol Beach. It's surprisingly a still relatively unexplored beach and hence promises a unique Goa experience, sans the parties and crowd. The best mothers day trip ever? You decide.

8. For the religious mom

If your mom is a regular temple-goer and keeps a fast every week for the good health of her family, then a pilgrimage to the beautiful dham that is the godly Dwarka in Gujarat, is the right fit for her! The Dwarkadhish Temple is dedicated to the king of Dwarka, Lord Krishna, and is one of the most important sites in Hindu religion. The city is located right by the banks of the revered Gomti river. Take her on this religious trip and make her as happy as she deserves to be. If you're looking for places to stay, here are the best hotels in Dwarka you can book.

9. For the mom who hasn’t gone abroad yet

Paris is one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, and the most visited on the globe, so it should also make for a wonderful first overseas destination for your mother! Just walk with her on the pebbled streets all the way up to the iconic Eiffel and then ask her to pose in front of it so you can capture her happiness in a frame forever. Let this be one trip she won't forget. Start planning for this and book hotels in Paris, for which you don't need to pay right away.

10. For the mom who dislikes travelling

Finally addressing the elephant in the room, there are definitely those moms who do not like travelling at all. If you also have a mother who jumps at the idea of cancelled outstation trips, I have a perfect solution for you as well. Gift her a staycation. If in Delhi, just book a room at Resort The Roseate and give her the gift of ultra-luxury with a spa, a wellness centre, an outdoor pool, set amongst 8-acres of luscious greens encompassed by over a thousand trees and water bodies. This is pure bliss right inside the city. If you're looking for a fantastic getaway for Mother's Day 2020, this one is right on top!

So there you go, get planning a vacation with just your mother already because Mother's Day 2020 falls on May 10. Give her a sweet little surprise and let her know that she means the world to you. If you have already taken a vacation with just your mom, share your experience on Tripoto to help 25 million doting sons and daughters in the community plan better.
