The city of joy : Mandav , Madhya Pradesh

19th Nov 2018
Day 1

Mandav or Mandu is one of the most visited , loved and historic places to visit in the state of Madhya Pradesh.

It is place imcarnated in 8th century ( that's why very historic) A.D.  It is also known as the "city of joy" , as name given by mughal emperors.
This place is mainly famous for the most magnificent romance of the most  beautiful lady at that time Rani Roopmati and Baz Bahadur and their poetic interaction .
The locals there are still mesmerized by this poetic love story.

I visited Mandu around in July with my friends and family. It is best place around the Indore city to chill and explore at the weekends. The weather at that time was the perfect because of the cool and flowy breeze around the area and also the season of rain enhances the beauty of Mandu.

We departed from Indore with our own car on around 9 am but we have to pitstop in the middle because if you are a indori then poha , jalebi and garam chai (tea) is a must . At around 12 pm we arrived at Mandu.

The best thing about this place is that all the touristy things to do are very nearby , so one don't have to waste time in travelling.

The first monument we visited is jahaz Mahal , as the name suggest it is in the shape of a open ship. The interiors as well as exteriors are very beautifully carved .
But I have to say the best place to experience the essence of this place is at the top of that jahaz Mahal because the winds are like unstoppable but in a very cool , calm and breezy way. Seriously for me , it is the best thing apart from eating fresh dal baati churma in a garden as a lunch ( though it was heavy but totally worth it).

After all that heavy lunch , we proceeded to saw the Roopmati pavilion , especially made for Roopmati and her servents. Then we also visited nilkanth palace , tower of victory , ashrafi Mahal .
The best thing about these palaces are that they describe and inform us about the untold culture, diversity and the level of dignity they people have even today in Mandu.

There are many locals , tourists both Indian and foreign travellers . And for their convenience , a whole lot of tour guides , audio tape recordings are easily available at a reasonable rate. In the age of selfies , the printed hard copy photos are a treasure for us and for that photographers are also easily available across the monuments.

Apart from all the historical places , there are many lakes, valleys , rivers around the area . They also provide many unique water sports activity like banana boat , which we all the friends enjoyed a lot.

The best thing is the timing of the weather . Because literally the weather was so so amazing. Because weather is that essence of any place that can destroy as well as enhanced the beauty of the place and the Traveller.

Then after that banana boat ride , we visited a small temple of mataji that was around the corner . Also we visited  a small market of spices and oil and they proved to be an authentic spice of the place.

Then after taking a break of hot garam chai , we proceeded to our journey around 8pm , had some light dinner and arrived Indore safely and happily and filled with the beautiful treasures of Mandu around 10:30 pm.

The best season to visit Mandu is from July to September because of the rainy season the place enhance it's beauty even more.

So guys , Mandu is best and an excellent choice to even pitstop at because it contains some amazing resorts , hotels and even  homestays if you are passing by . And for indori's , it's a amazing choice to visit there at weekend.
