Pondicherry - Give time a break

Tripoto
Day 1

It was planned a week prior to the start date. I with a friend started on a Saturday night from Bangalore. I was informed that the stretch from Bangalore to ECR was not that great. So we planned to take a bus. SRS travels served us good. We started around 10 pm from Bangalore and ended up in Pondicherry around 5 am.

Day 2

The most important part of any trip is the stay, and we were ditched on this. I had made a reservation by calling a hotel owner, however he did not ask to pay anything and agreed on providing the accommodation. After we reached the hotel, we were told that they are full. It took about 1 hr to get a hotel near Auro beach. So make sure you book your stay on providers like MakeMyTrip. We started the adventure around 9:30 am and the first thing we did was to rent an Activa. We started from Auroville. And believe me, I felt as if I was in a different country but India. Then we took the roads to the city and reached Promenade beach - the rocky beach. Do not forget to check in to the French cafes by the sea. We witnessed the old and charming French colony. A bottle of beer in any of the French cafes would make your day. But I would suggest you to try multiple of them. If you have a vehicle, please move out of the promenade beach road before 6, as its a no vehicle zone after 6 pm. We returned back to the hotel and sleep took our tired bodies into its arm.

Day 3

The day started with a breakfast in a Greek cafe on the road from Auro beach to Auroville. The feel of a foreigner came back to us. The plan for the day was to spend it on the Paradise Beach - The edge. The beach is a little away from the city. Rely on your GPS to get you there. The beach is the most scenic spot in the French city. Its surrounded by back waters on one side and by Bay of Bengal on the other three. Beers / Food options are in ample on this beach. One can easily spend 4-5 hrs on this Serene beauty. The day was our last. We returned our Activa to the owner and felt like it was calling us back. The roads, the cafes, the city, the foreigners and the beaches felt like asking us to stay, but we had to leave with loads of visual memories and few hundred pictures as digital memories.
