Happy Holi from Delhi, India.

For all those who don't know, Holi is one of the biggest festivals of india which is celebrated in spring season on the Purnima (Full Moon day) falling in the Vikram Samvat Hindu Calendar month of Phalgun. Holi is known as "Festivals of color".

In March'16 Holi weekend was approaching and suddenly, my mother suggested us to visit her younger sister who stays in Dehradun, capital of Uttarakhand, the most beautiful state of India.

So, I booked the tickets for 5 of us (Me, my 2 younger sisters, my mom and her older sister) and it was our good luck that we got the seats in the train that's too in tatkal. We took our train in afternoon and reached Dehradun in night.

My society, where my Masi's (Aunt) was living, was very beautiful. It was full of trees, roses and other flowers as almost every home there was having a small garden which is a rare scene in Delhi. I was like super excited to realize that i am going to spend next 2 3 days of my life in such a beautiful location among the flowers and nature.

In the night, after reaching their place and having dinner, we started discussing how we are going to spend the next 2.5 days. So, for day 1, we planned to visit a Shiv temple named Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple and Sahastradhara which are located in Doon (Short name of Dehradun) itself.

Tapkeshwar Temple in Dehradun, also known as Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple, is one of the most famous temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. Situated by the forest side, the main shivalinga at the temple is inside a natural cave. Water drops from the ceiling of the cave trickle down over the shivalinga in a continuous downpour, making for an interesting spectacle. The beautiful temple of lord Shiva established in between the two hills. Travelers from and around Uttarakhand state pay visit to Tapkeshwar Mahadev temple for its religious significance and adventurers go to see the water drops dripping in the Shiva ling in Drona cave. The water that drops down vanishes underground and can be seen only few yards away in the form of a stream. There is a small stream of water there as i mentioned above.

After Visiting the temple, we headed towards Sahastradhara meaning "Thousand fold spring". The place has an ecstatic beauty of nature where water drips from limestone stalactites, making the water sulphur abundant and thus the place is also callesd as sulphur springs. It is sulphur water spring of relatively lower temperature than its surroundings. It is a warehouse of excellent beauty of caves, waterfalls and steppe farming by local people. Its extreme magnificent essence of nature thrive people from faraway places. It surely rejuvenates the soul and mind. This place is at about 11 km from the city of Dehradun. (Source: Wiki)

There was a pool of sulphar water as well there for which it is said that it heals skin and hair diseases. After having fun for few hrs in water, We returned home for the day.

Day 2 was planned for Mussoorie. I was very excited as this was my first ever experience of visiting a hill station. We had hired two cars for the trip. We all girls were in one car and all elders in other.

Before moving to Mussoorie, i clicked few pics of flowers in the locality again.

Since, we had no plan to stay in Mussoorie overnight, so we decided to head directly towards Kempty Waterfalls, which is most attractive tourists spot in Mussoorie.

We reached there by 2 as far as remember and as soon as the driver showed us a faint site of falls, we all were excited to reach there.

Then, we all girls jumped in ice chilled water. Ohh, the water was so so so cold and it was falling on our head with a great speed. but, it was real fun.

We even had felt the ice pieces in the water too which were falling on us :P. It was not easy to stay in this cold water for a long time so, we came out soon and then changed the dress. This fall has been totally commercialized. There are lots of eating outlets, vendors who give tubes, changing rooms and cloths on rent.

The next destination was Company garden. From kempty falls, we headed towards comany garden and in between, we stopped at a place and had our lunch which we had brought with us from home. After having lunch we started for company garden. It was a beautiful place. really very beautiful. There was an entry fees of appx Rs 20 per head.

I had got totally crazy when i had entered the garden. There was a fine fragrance of the flowers which was very soothe. It was a place where i could have stayed forever among the flowers. Simply beautiful, colorful, very well clean and maintained, A must Visit.

Although, i never wanted to leave, we had too. After roaming there for 2 hrs, we left for City. In between we were struck in jam hence we girls got out of car and walked towards Mall Road.

It was getting cold and dark hence, we didn't roam a lot at Mall road as there was parking issues as well hence we left for the city. Saying good bye to Mussoorie was not easy but sometimes, good byes becomes necessary.

On Holi weekend of 2017, I am terribly missing my visit to this beautiful hill station. Anyways, Happy Holi to all once again. May this festival of colors makes your coming years as colorful as possible ????

Bidding good bye for now. Keep watching this space for upcoming travel tales of mine.
