Rarang is a small village in Kinnaur district. With a population of about 800 peoples. The village has got a maximum population of Buddhist followers Drukpa. It is located 30 KM towards west from District head quarters Reckong Peo. 245 KM from State capital Shimla.
The Rarang Monastery, situated in Rarang in Kinnaur is a popular site of the place and is a prominent exclusivity of Himachal Pradesh as a whole. Located in the vicinity of the Thopan side, the Rarang Monastery is a feature, sacred and beautiful. Rarang Monastery is a recently constructed monastery of Tashi Choeling. Located in Thopan, this monastery is a famous pilgrimage destination in the region of Rarang. This monastery is renowned for its old houses and temples, which join the rocky mountain from one side.
A visit to the Rarang Monastery is, however, a must for the one who has come to explore Kinnaur.
