We have heard about their wonderful and electric streets and night bars with fascinating tequila atmosphere in Cancun before; I guess it is about time to explore their other fascinating and timid beaches too. One of Mexico’s popular travel destinations is the fascinating Playa del Carmen which is mostly known as the Playa. This coastal resort town in Quintana Roo on the Yucatan Peninsula is the favorite hangout of Americans, Europeans and Canadians who after shriveling in the cold want some relief from the resort’s warm atmosphere.
Getting to the Playa is relatively easy; hop on one of them jets and you’re good to go. The locals are easy to deal with coupled with warm atmosphere, you’ll smile in no time. If you just want to forget all your troubles and not travel the road less traveled, Playa is the right place to be. Let it all out and hang out on nice bars with likeminded souls soaking up the booze and the sweet tequila shots; it’s just too good to pass up. Ain’t Cancun synonymous with party before? It still is, but Playa is a world of its own.
Before we head to the beaches, let’s go take a quick stroll along the quaint streets of Quinta Avenida, otherwise translated as the 5th Avenue beaming with colorful thoroughfares. Are you romantic? If not, don’t worry, some of us are just too bored to understand romance or just plain lazy to even bother. Well, my friend if you want to keep her, better learn a thing or two about romance. Walking hand in hand on a cobblestone street is a perfect start. Oh and don’t forget to grab a seat on one of the sweet restaurants lined up on the street. You will see plenty of shops too and if you’re up for it, go inside clubs and bars. It is said that in Playa, your fun adventure starts from this very street. Keep your eyes wide open at all times although focus on your date and not on other hotties carefree strolling looking for something to begin their day with.
For the next stop, you’ll need to drive an hour to the scenic Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve. This is by far the biggest protected park of Mexico, perfect for nature lovers. This is excellent for bird watching and if you fancy wet forests, you’ll simply love the thick mangroves hugging the shorelines attracting more beautiful winged creatures. If you look closer to the waters lapping the tree roots, you might even spot a manatee staring back at you. If you hike deeper into the reserve, some locals find it lucky to spot one of those rare Jaguars; you must really be pretty lucky if a Jaguar decides that you’re perfect for dinner.
Of course, you came for the beaches and there are plenty of them from lo-key to high end resorts. Mamitas and Kool are popular beach clubs for their clean beachfronts and waited service right off the beach. Think about being under one of those colorful umbrellas, with the soft sand massaging your feet. As you gaze on the opposite end of the table is your date, totally melted - a perfect romantic dinner, you simply made it.
