"It is always the same with mountains. Once you have lived with them for any length of time, you belong to them. There is no escape."

Manali

A solitary mountain road trailing amidst a dense pine forest. The sunlight playing hide and seek. I see the snow cladded mountains peeping from the dense pine cover. The mountains distant away shining and glowing under the sunshine. The trail then led me to some breath taking views as I make the assent gradually amidst the mountains. I see Beas following my solitary trail. The road side cafe, the music in the air, the flower blossom , myriads of colour, the symphony.

I see myriads of colourful flower enlightening me. It's spectacular as I make the assent. The air in Manali has an intoxicated enigma that makes you keep coming back here. The Lush green valley . Scenes stolen from your desktop wallpaper.

Rohtang Pass

I see myself transported in a world of Snow. A paradise of snow . A white Nirvana.

We started from Manali at around 7:00 am on a bright sunshine lit morning. We started our journey amidst some hilly trails surrounded by pine on the Manali Leh highway. Going past a flock of sheep as we started making our assent. We stopped in between and prepared our self for the chilling windy climate , rented dress for the snow that lies ahead. Our destination was around at a height of 13,050 ft. Sounds scary isn't it !! Rohtang Pass connects the Kullu Valley with the Lahul and Spiti valleys. It is one of the oldest trade routes between these two culture of people. It's one of the most picturesque places in India.

En route Rohtang Pass

After getting permit for our car we continued on our journey. Going past several waterfalls the view from our car started becoming breath taking. With every bend on the road , the mountains that were distant apart started coming closer. The view started becoming epic indeed. At this height you realize how little is your existence in Life. At one point you feel you are in an abode of cloud. Then you witness cascading waterfalls that would turn you into a story teller. Witness the green valleys as you look down. We stopped our car at Mahri , which is 17 kms from Rohtang. The view from this point is intoxicating. The Himalayn grandeur will make you awe.You literally can hear the sound of your heart beat.

After refreshing and taking some spectacular shots we started our further assent. The ecology has completely changed since we left Mahri. Now the mountains look grey , the green has completely vanished and sprawling landscapes will guide you to the Rohtang pass. The road then leads to what I call "a tunnel of Snow". you will be in completely disbelief when you see walls of snow on both sides of the road. This is indeed a fairy tale. White walls of snow on both sides of the road. The snow now is in your touching distance. As we made our assent to the Snow point. You feel you have been teleported to some magic places on Earth.

Beautiful , Breath Taking and Beyond.

As we stepped out of our Car. The Chilling freezing gust of wind greeted us. The rented clothes now seems really handy.

Feel, get intoxicated by Snow, Play , Jump, Trek, Make snow castles, Ski. I ran out of words so I let my Pictures spin the Tale from here.
