Day 1

To escape the scorching heat in Ahmadabad only a fool would choose to go to Rajasthan rather than returning back to Mumbai (which was the initial plan) With this sudden urge of going to Udaipur, I booked a 2 day Royal stay for me and my sister at Shiv Niwas Palace – the grand heritage, Udaipur.

This luxurious hotel was on my mind since I last visited Udaipur in March. Built-in the 20th century under the reign of Maharana Fateh Singh, Shiv Niwas Palace is the most beautiful crescent-shaped part of the city palace. This grand heritage site is situated at a gorgeous location and furnishes the best luxury and royal experiences.

The best part about staying at SNP was that everything is situated at a walking distance. City palace museum, Gangaur ghat, Lake Pichola and Jagdish temple and many other places can be easily explored on foot.

We were welcomed in the royal style with garlands and fresh juice; I knew were in for a royal treat for the next 2 days! Check in process was quick and we were escorted to our room immediately.

ROOMS:

Out of the various categories of rooms available, we opted for the Palace Room as we spend most of our time outside exploring. The best part about the room was the front porch + the smoking area. Click here for Room Tour

I loved how we got a box full of chocolates every time they came to clean our room. The staff was extremely friendly and courteous.

DINING:

SNP offers 4 different dining experiences

* Paantya - Multi cuisine fine dining

* The pool deck - Evening snacks and drinks

* Panera - The bar

* Palki Khana - The café

Experiences:

There’s a fitness centre, Indoor games area, sauna and a beautiful spa for you to relax and rewind. Unfortunately we couldn’t use any of these as we were too busy clicking pictures and lurking around the beautiful property.

Ride like a Royal: Shiv Niwas Palace is on a huge property and maybe difficult for some to walk around the entire place. So make it easier, this hotel offers you a royal golf cart ride to commute from one gate to another.

Staff at the reception was very helpful and immediately arranged a golf cart to drop me off at the City Palace Gate.

It was a fun ride!!

We were also surprised by an unexpected thunderstorm at 40 degrees.
