Hope all are safe and sound.
I am from Delhi, and for delhites, weekend trips are like "chal na Dehradun/Rishikesh/Musoorie chalte hai" :D No planning, no major arrangements, nothing. This story is about one such trip to Rishikesh. So, we went on this trip in May 2018 and here I am sitting in 2020 "#feelingNostalgic wala moment". And a thought came to mind..lets create a blog about it :D This pandemic gives us all the free time in the world to think about ourself :)
Rishikesh, also known as Hrishikesh, is a city in Dehradun district of the Indian state Uttarakhand. Located in the foothills of the Himalayas in northern India, it is known as the "Gateway to the Garhwal Himalayas". Literally this place is just the beginning and as we ascend towards the himalayas, Uttarakhand become more and more beautiful, be it Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Tehri or Nainital. And we all are familiar with "char dham" also right. You will be awestruck by the beauty of this place. Ok, So coming back to topic, Rishikesh is also known as "Yoga Capital of India". And Beatles are the one who make this place even more recognizable :)
We took a late night bus to Haridwar from Delhi. Late night travel are the best if you have time constraint and you can even save a full day if you sleep well. So I will suggest you to take a AC Sleeper buses like one from the RedBus if you want to have a sound sleep and roadways if you are tight on budget. You can find the prices on redbus app.
Next morning we reached Haridwar at around 5AM in the morning. What a beautiful weather it was, you can literally feel the drop in pollution around. We took a dip in holy river Ganga and witnessed the beautiful Ganga Aarti. It was such a beautiful and serene moment. People gathered around and chant mantras. That moment can literally gives you goosebumps. It feels like whole atmosphere just become so pure and beautiful. If you want to be amazed by how much faith people have in god, you much definitely visit this place.
Aah, I forgot food, I recommend do try food over there. I must say, "Lassi" is a must try. You can't afford to miss this :)
After Ganga Aarti, we had some breakfast and proceed towards our next checkpoint that is "Chandi Devi temple". It is small hike of 2 km approx and it is total ascend. Here is the view of the temple. You can get the aerial view of Haridwar from there.
After visiting the temple, we took a ropeway back to Haridwar and took a rikshaw to Rishikesh. And headed straight towards our camp which we already booked from Delhi itself. We were already tired by that time, so we took a rest for an hour. After that refreshing quick nap we went out to have a feel of the surrounding and sit by the small stream flowing beside our camp to relax.
That was the most relaxing feeling when you were constantly walking for 3-4 hours and then put your feet in a chilled water. It takes away all your pain in a second ;) . We stay there for an hour and a half and then returned back to our camp.
We went for a hike in the evening to "Patna waterfall", which is approx 3 km from the road. And it was really beautiful. This waterfall is not like every other falls, it's like a dripping waterfall and looks stunning. Have a look. I have also captured this in the video at the start of this blog.
Next day, the D day, yes...we are gonna do "White water rafting" today... Oh yeahh. I was very excited and at the same time scared and nervous. It was my first time doing hands on with this adventure activity. Still I gathered my courage and went for it. You would not believe it, it was amazingly beautiful, adventurous and an awesome experience. I would love to do it again. I created a separate video just dedicated to Rafting. This one is a short and crisp. Watch it if you did rafting in past, you will feel relatable and the ones who are gonna try, its a must watch. I shot it on my GoPro. Have look :)

Same day, we took a bus from Rishikesh in the evening at around 6PM and returned back to Delhi. :) It was an amazing trip.
