It was being 3rd month of 2017, still I have not visited or seen Kanchenjunga. Situation was miserable and too depressive with regular hospital ,chamber and patients. A fine morning I woke up with the idea to fly for north in the weekend. The day was tuesday so it was impossible to get a train ticket for New Jalpaiguri from sealdah. I was still in dilemma where to go. At the end of the day I made my mind for Rishyap, a small village near Kalimpong surrounded by dense pine forest and from where Kanchenjunga can be seen if luck clicks :P
Day 1: As I din't get any train ticket not even in tatkal and the flight fare for Bagdogra was too high, I made my mind to travel in general class. It was 7:35PM Up Uttarbanga express
Day 2: We reached NJP at around 7'O clock in the morning. Somak,my friend already had booked a cab for kalimpong for 1200/- . Samrat, my beloved junior was also with us. We reached kalimpong at around 11:30 AM from where we again booked a cab for 6 Mile where the road divides, one for rishyap and other for Labha. It costs 800/- 1km after leaving Algara there is a forst check post, besides which there is a small restaurant run by local women serves awesome momo, thukpa, waiwai and chicken Fali also. Around 12:30 PM we reached 6 mile from where we decided to trek upto Rishap. 5km Trail is through dense pine forest covered with dense fog. Such a pleasant trek it was. As the village Rishap is on the slope of hill, the hotels and homestays are quite far from each other. Hotel Sunakhari, where i stayed was on the top of Rishap with 130 degree open view for kanchenjunga. When we reached it was almost 1:45pm. After having lunch we decided to roam around. But all ideas flushed down due to heavy rain. Temperature was almost dropped to 2 degree with wind. oho i forgot to mention the room rent. it was 900/- per day for a 3 bedded room. Nothing to do rest of the evening and night excpet boozing and eating :P
Day3: it was 5:10Am. I suddenly woke up and mopped thefoggy window glass and what i found made me sure that yes am quite lucky enough. The complete Kanchendzonga range. What can be much more than this beautiful scene! We were the witnesses of the first Sun ray over the Kanchenjunga. After having breakfast we went to another trekking for the view point named Tifindara which was just 2km away from our resort. Again the trail was through dense forest with lots of chirping birds. The viewpoint gives 330 degree clear view.
