ROAD TO ALWAR

The wind passes by my ear

Singing and dancing.

The journey seems like life

Whistling past with each breath.

Taking the road less traveled infuses adrenaline rush through out the body and especially the mode makes it more exciting.

The real journey begun when we thankfully took the right turn from Delhi Jaipur Highway towards Bhiwadi and from there towards Alwar.

The roads were good and the settling sun, mustard field and Aravalli hills were giving golden hue to the journey.

Our first stop was at Gulshan Dhaba. The food was good, fresh and tasty. And little further we stopped at one of the various orange juice vendor extracting fresh juices from oranges procured from nearby fields.

We reached Alwar at around 5:30 in the evening and went straight to the new tourist hotel. The room was good and service excellent. There we gathered information about our next day's itinerary.

We started for Sariska six in the morning amidst cold and darkness and the moment a tinge of daylight removed the blackness , we were already riding into the path to heaven, good roads, woods by our side and we were straight penetrating into the Aravali’s. To accompany us were innumerable peacocks, Langurs, monkeys and small birds, having their early morning breakfast.

We hired a canter and went straight into the heart of Sariska where the driver was following the pug marks of supposedly a tiger. Our hearts were pumping hard, but what we saw were all the herbivores. Nevertheless we visited an ancient shrine of Hanuman called Pandupole amongst the surrounding hills.

Straight after that we headed for the haunted Bhangarh. The beauty grew strong but not the roads. The 50 km stretch was full of potholes, which tested our riding abilities to the fullest. We were going uphill asking for directions at numerous points as there were many junctions in between. We reached Bhangarh fort at 1:30 PM but to our disappointment we encountered a heavy rush which thwarted the enigma and the legend associated with the fort.

The fort was beautiful and the surroundings serene but we didn’t felt any weariness. Probably visiting at the time of near darkness with clouds surrounding the fort would have lived up to the expectation. I can feel the situation standing alone or amongst few in the wee hours of the evening and the rain started pouring and not having any vehicle to go…..weeeee that’s scary but only in imagination.

We moved from there at around three and though we thought to take the same route from which we came but we lost our way. But that turned out to be a blessing in disguise as the other route was smooth and connected us with the Highway. We had a late lunch in a Dhaba and went straight to Silserh Lake.

The lake was bigger and beautiful than we expected. And the scenery atop the only hotel over there was one of a kind. Peaceful and Serene. We took some good photos and had some coffee. We departed from there at around 6 and by 7:30 we were at our hotel room.

At 6 we took off for Delhi and that was a hell of a ride. We took frequent halts in between to arouse our senses with tea and to infuse our limbs with blood as the cold was getting better of us. And to give us a wholesome experience there was fog for nearly 30 kilometers which reduced our speed but enhanced the experience.

We reached Delhi at around 10:30 AM shakened but not stirred.
