A considerable part of India’s western coast falls in the state of Maharashtra. While Goa remains India’s primary beach destination, it is often crowded with hoards of tourists. In this regard, Maharashtra’s beaches are fairly secluded and much cleaner. Not only do they make for a serene getaway, they also provide breathtaking views and make you feel closer to nature. With a coastline spreading across 720 km, Maharashtra is home to a number of spectacular beaches.

One of the cleanest beaches in India, Diveagar is perfect for a getaway from the urban hustle bustle. It is famous for the Suvarna Ganesh temple and its history dating back to 800 AD when the Shilahara dynasty ruled Diveagar. Your Diveagar visit can be clubbed with a visit to other beautiful beach destinations like Shrivardhan and Harihareswar which are also popular weekend getaways.

This is a beach approximately 170 KMs from Pune. The usual road we take is the Tamhini Ghat road, which is convenient and scenic. It takes 5 hours for sure at normal speed, because of the twists and turns.

I'd been here for the very first time in 2016, then quite a few number of times, then in 2017, and it is nice to see that the place is still pretty much the same. It's a nice, long, sparsely populated beach, where you can just lazy around and lie down like a whale. Sand-bubble mini and micro crabs are a fun to watch all around you.

The beach is pretty much clean, but dirty as well at some places.

Day 1

The rural beach experience at diveagar is much superior. The village is excellent and so clean. Diveagar is pure bliss, the only sad part is that it becomes somewhat hot during summers!

Exotica Hotel

Newly opened property, which is part of Exotica the beach resort ( MTDC ). Total 8 cottages are available right now. It is situated outside of main area of Divegar. Overall good experience with average service. Pros and Cons are as follows-

Pros-

1. Big Specious room ,So you can see sea from your balcony.

2. Well maintained property.

Cons-

1. Average service time

2. For Lunch limited choices.

Since the recent times, there are hawkers / food stalls selling food at a very high cost, but when you travel you don't care too much about an additional 20 rupees that's charged.

There are now sports activities carried out on the beach, which is fun as well

A must visit place to the beach and adventure lovers. Diveagar offers fresh sea food to the sea food lovers. Water sports near the beach makes it more excited :)

Well overall I can say that "Gleaming white sand, pristine blue water, swaying coconut palms and betel nut trees and gentle breeze producing a serene and calming effect", this is not a dream but the enchanting place called Diveagar.

For the one day trip just arrive at Diveagar. Check-in and rest. In the evening, visit Diveagar beach and local food joints to enjoy Konkani dishes.

But yes one thing I would like to add here is as usual beach is not maintained by locals so you can expect garbage at the entrance of beach as well as on the beach.

TIPS:

- Always carry your extra clothing to the beach. Don't be lazy. You will be tempted to get wet in the waves.

- Carry something to sit - like a mat or a stool, if you don't want to get wet

- Carry extra cash, if you plan to eat, because everything is super-costly. A green coconut water costed Rs. 40/- (which is twice the price in Pune)

- Don't miss your camera(s)

Travel makes you free :)
