Some experiences stay with you through out your life. I have created a short story out of one such experience; my stay in Mcleodganj, Himachal Pradesh. Whenever I think of this story, it leaves me full of optimism and hope for future. It makes me believe in hardwork, dedication and will to follow your dream!.
Lots of different stories unfolding… maybe because it is the place for the Tibetan government in exile, maybe because it is one of the few places where revolution/revolt/patriotism has some meaning, maybe because of the Llamas that are abound, maybe because I started wondering where are the Himachali people, maybe because of the awesome Himalayas that looked down upon the place, maybe cause I became a part of some stories myself!
Our journey with four best buddies started on 6th october 2016 night 10 pm on Mahindra KUV 100. After driving whole night, we reached mcleodganj at morning 8 am and we had already booked a hotel which was sea view resort. We went to our rooms and took some rest. However, we could not afford to waste time and we were excited enough to explore the new place. So we went out looking for some fun around.
There were plenty of foreign tourists around. I was told that most of them stayed with villagers in the hills of Upper Bhagsu. I had read somewhere that like in the beautiful Himalayan destination of Manali (a popular haunt of young Israelis), drug trafficking is rampant in McLeodganj too. Well on my way down to McLeodganj, I did see two young cigarette smoking Oriental girls walking in the opposite direction stop near a stall for something in a plastic pouch which a guy soon offered them.
The fun and thrill continued the whole day. we explored the market there and met with few strangers. Had a great food specially the tibetan food. The whole day was awesome and it added to our tiredness.
The Journey till now was awesome. At night we went to a pub and enjoyed the gathering. However by 12 we reached back to our resort and was planning the next day. After long gossips about fun, trip, girls etc we all slept.
The next morning 8th october we all woke up and had heavy breakfast in hotel itself. Then after we moved for shiva cafe which is one of the famous cafe there. To reach there you have to cross hills and roads and its amazing. Long gatherings and crowds all over the place and amazing scenery could be viewed. We enjoyed a lot and had good food at the cafe. The clicks were also amazing with my dslr.
At around 3 pm in afternoon we came back from shiva cafe and went to waterfall near by. Had some fun and infact took bath there. The crowd was amazing there and we played some games like football and swimming. Wow it was really a great experience.
The third morning was bit sad for us as we had to leave today back to delhi. However, the excitement to explore was same and we went out on KUV 100 looking for the places.
As a traveler, we kept on travelling and left for dharamshala the same afternoon. It was some 100 kms away from mcleodganj. The journey to Dharamshala was awesome.
We reached Dharamshala stadium by 4 pm and the gate was open. We went inside and wow what a stadium !! It was amazing and the playground made me remember the match played there. In coming 2 days the match was scheduled.
Somewhere in midway we stopped to click some amazing pics. We had everything with us like tripod stand, dslr, car and great scenic beauty.
Our Journey ends and we came back the same night from dahramshala to new delhi. The trip was a great learning for us and we explored to our fullest. That's why roadtrips are best specially when yoy have good company. Mcleodganj is a must placed to visit and it is somewhere 400kms from delhi.
