Amidst the chaos and busy life of Mumbai, you often long for an offbeat getaway to a place which is not filled with people and commercial. One of my latest finds is Banyan Bliss, a short drive (2 hrs) from Mumbai on Pali-Khopoli road. The set up is rural and eco friendly farmhouse with a hint of modern comfort. Operated by a ex-corporate professional, the approach to manage the farm is truly commendable. We reached at about 11.30am and were offered Nimbu pani on arrival. While we took a tour of the 1 acre farm and selected the rooms we wanted to crash in for the weekend, the owner Vinod explained his concept of shaping the place like this. What makes it memorable is that he doesn't host more than one group at a time, ensuring its a private getaway for you.The food is home cooked but extremely delicious. The staff both, Sanjay and Pandit were a delight to talk to and ensured we were well taken care of.Evenings activities can be planned around group activities in the farm, walking trail to a nearby river or nature walks. We opted for the river and trekked for 25 mins downhill to reach the river. It was fantastic, as the water was crystal clear - you could see your feet under the water and small fishes giving you a quick pedicure :)We spent about 2 hrs by the river and then decided to come back up before sunset. Sanjay prepared some yummy bhajiyas for us. We then headed to the spot which truly justifies the name 'Banyan Bliss'. A well lit Banyan tree with some swings and lanterns under the stars set out for barbeque and dinner. We spent 4 hrs chatting and sitting there, enjoying the weather and a constant supply of mouthwatering barbeque snacks with our drinks. You can't have a more destressing experience.Next morning the boys decided to head for a early morning trek to a nearby mountain, while I decided to find spot and enjoy the sunrise while I read my kindle. Some small things you can never make time for in the hustle bustle in Mumbai.I truly recommend this getaway for all workaholics to destress and rejuvenate before hitting a busy Monday at work.
