When we take a short break, we all seek maximum luxury in that break. Since, there are multiple hotels that offer different amenities, it is really hard to decide which the best hotel is. Delhi is the capital city on India, and choosing the most luxurious hotel in Delhi for my stay was really difficult. However, after much deliberation, I decided to stay at the Pullman Hotel in Delhi which is situated in Aerocity right near the airport. Generally, the hotels near the airport are more suited for business. However, that is only the general notion and I beg to differ. The Pullman Aerocity is a great place to just relax, rejuvenate, have a great time with your spouse or family.
Various famous personalities have stayed at the hotel because of its imminence as well as because of the unending facilities that the hotel has to offer. Virat Kohli, Arjun Rampal, Suresh Prabhu as well as the Vice President of India, Venkiah Naidu have stayed at the hotel. It's closeness to the airport, business and luxurious setting makes it the perfect place for the best parties in town and high end business meets. The interiors and the facilities also make it perfect for a family setting.
Intricate and intimate interiors at the hotel
The Pullman in Aerocity is designed with great intricacy and intimate interiors. The entire hotel has a theme of peacock where the lobby and other places in the hotel boast huge structures which are inspired by different peacock designs. The lobby has a huge chandelier which has really small lights instilled in it. Each piece is supposed to represent a raindrop in which a peacock rejoices and dances. Looking at a structure like this automatically makes one feel like they are a part of a beautiful dance.
There are very few places in the world where I have seen structures like this. I believe that The Taj hotel chain is very suited for Business professionals because of the lack of art and inspiration that the interiors provide. Yes, the Taj in Mumbai does boast having a Hussain painting, however that is so known by everyone that the horses provide limited initiation of new thoughts and imagination in the mind. That is what I’ll call expensive artistic blandness. However, the raindrop chandelier in the lobby at The Pullman Hotel, sparked many thoughts in my mind. If you are into thought provoking structures, the interiors of this hotel will capture your mind.
One of the best places you should visit in the hotel is their staircase which leads you down to café pluck. This staircase has a huge glass surrounding it and it is beautifully designed to let maximum sunlight come in during the mornings. A little bit of sunlight always makes for a great morning. It can also be used romantically if you ask your partner to carry you on the staircase and take you up.
Another great place to check out at the hotel is their organic farm which has a lot of vegetables growing. These vegetables are used to cook many of the meals at Pluck (a restaurant at the hotel). This organic farm inside a five star hotel is one of a kind and it has some great vibes.
Your abode - The room
The interiors of the room are fantastic. My room was facing the Airport take off strip and I could see the sight of planes taking off at roaring speed from my room’s grand window while I sipped my green tea. The hotel is very hospitable and they had placed a Taj Mahal made out of white chocolate for me in the room. They had also placed some delicious chocolates which were filled with molten chocolate inside as well as some nacho crisps with cheese. I began my stay at the hotel with these fantastic culinary treats from the hotel which are luxuries in themselves. The mold with which the white chocolate Taj was prepared is very difficult to obtain, they had the mold in its best form.
The King sized bed provides a really cozy setting for anyone who wants to catch up on sleep. The room opens into the bathroom which is equipped with a designer bathtub and a high force shower to massage the body while showering. The bed has a huge headboard behind it and has many lights to fit different moods and settings.
The view of the airstrip is definitely a highlight of the room.
Rejuvenate and stay fresh - Woo Spa at the hotel
The Spa at the Pullman hotel is called Woo Spa and Wellness. I was welcomed by a soothing fragrance and the interiors here too were from the peacock theme. They have various couple spas which you should take if you visit the hotel. Their spa room has a grand bath tub that looks like it is big enough to accommodate an entire party of people. It isn’t like the room bathtub which can only accommodate two people. This bathtub is a perfect romantic setting for a couple. Their best massage involves an oil massage for 1 hour. After the massage, I headed to the steam room which transcended another level of luxury. I was relaxed and rejuvenated by the experience. The Spa at the Pullman hotel has some of the best masseuses worldwide and they are very experienced at the art of body relaxation and cell rejuvenation.
Get fit - The pool and gym at the hotel
The poolside at the hotel has a resort like seating area with openable seats. There is also a gym right near the pool to suit all your fitness needs. The gym is equipped with some amazing new machines and weights which will motivate you to start your fitness journey or to head towards your goal. I relaxed by the pool while I ate at the bar right near the pool.
Satiate yourself - Food and Beverages at the hotel
The Pullman Hotel has 6 restaurants, all which have different cuisines.
Café Pluck – This is a coffee place which has a menu of different varieties of coffee. They also have some great restaurants and desserts. A dessert heaven at its best.
Pling- This is a bar as well as a café with some snack items to try.
Pluck – This is the restaurant where they serve their breakfast, brunch as well as have an ala-carte dinner. The dinner here is literally the best that I have ever tried. Their dinner is fusion food themed and it will surprise you.
Honk – This place has Asian food and it is also prepared by the best chefs in town. The food on your plate will be wonderfully crafted by some of the master chefs in the house.
Food Exchange – A restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. They all various different cuisines and their buffet is very wide. This is more suited for business professionals who are flying in from the airport for a small meal.
Enjoy your weekend
The hotel has other activities like a golf stimulator which makes you feel like you are playing golf even if you aren’t really in the golf course. There is also a pool table and a business center. They also have an in house nightclub where you can let your hair down at night. Club Honk at the lower level of the hotel has a club which starts around 12AM and goes on till around 3:30-4:00 AM in the morning. This place has a great after party scene. When I had visited the hotel, we enjoyed some great techno music.
3 myths that you need to know are myths:
1. Hotels in Aerocity are more suited to business oriented people - This perception exists because all the other metropolitans have business oriented hotels near the airport. However, living in Aerocity provides great connectivity for both Gurgaon and Delhi. Hence, if you are here for a short time span, you will be able to explore both by living in Aerocity.
2. Rooms near the airport are noisy - The rooms at the Pullman hotel face the airstrip and that it is the best part of the view. However, the rooms are soundproof. Hence, you can enjoy the view of planes taking off but you won't get disturbed by the noise.
3. Food at five star hotels is expensive - Yes, the food at five star hotels is expensive but it priced on the higher end because such food isn't available in other places. Luxury comes at a cost. The value of the food should be judged with the cost. If you are paying Rs. 600 to try a vegetarian version of caviar which has golgappa as its fusion partner, the exciting and creative dish becomes worth it. Someone told me that "Don't check the right hand side of the menu while ordering" and that has always stuck by me.
Cost
The rooms at the hotel start from INR 10,000 per night. This is super cheap compared to other luxury brands like Taj, Trident and Hilton which start at INR 15,000 per night. Moreover, these hotels do not have activities like pool, golf stimulator or the food variety and fusion. The rooms at The Pullman Hotel are totally worth the price.
