I decided to explore beach before the summer finally arrives. There are several beaches near Mumbai and Pune that I had explored earlier in 2016 via coastal route of Western ghat. Indeed, Konkan (also called as Kokan) is best to plan your weekends hence we decided to explore Shrivardhan, which I skipped during my last trip.
The route we took was bit confusing after crossing Mangaon. Few times we missed the turns because it was not constructed properly. Also, they are constructing a cement road so ride safely.
There are two routes to reach Shrivardhan beach:
1. If you want to explore the coastal highway with you can opt for this route. I had travelled via this route back in 2016 and trust me you will enjoy it. This route also includes ferry so if you are comfortable you can travel with this route. Also, when I travelled at that time roads conditions are not well so if you are choosing kindly confirm before going. The route is as follows:
Mumbai- Karnala bird sanctuary - Pen - Alibag - Kashid - Murud - Dighi - Velas - Shrivardhan beach
2. Mumbai - Panvel - Pen - Kolad - Mangaon - Shrivardhan beach
From Pune:
From Pune Shrivardhan beach is around 160km via Mulshi - Thamhi Ghat - Kolad - Mangaon - Shrivardhan
Stay:
We always try to stay in affordable places and avoid hotels and resorts. Instead, we try sea food with authentic taste of a particular place. We stayed at Parth Nivas, which is between 300-500 metres only. Room was really neat and clean. They also have great breakfast options like Poha, Upma, Shira and tea and coffee.
Food:
There are very few hotels near the beach that serves food. We have asked the owner where we were staying and he suggested us Prasad restaurant. It is approximately 2km from the beach and totally worth the visit. They serve one of the good sea food thalis. We have tried Surami thali for lunch, which includes fried Surmai pieces, gravy with one fish piece, rice, chapati (we have opted for Tandul bhakri) and solkadi. For dinner we tried Prawns masala which is highly recommended.

The Beach:
The beach is clean and calm. If you are water sports lover you can enjoy the banana ride, jet ski and other water sports.
