Ever had a dream to achieve something? Bucket list to tick off? I also have one bucket list which has evolved over years.
One thing had always been constant about my list-Skydive it was, that too over and above the Palm Islands in Dubai.
If I had to describe my experience in once sentence, it would be- "I was dying when the plane took off and we were going 13,000ft above the see level and it had a rebirth when I jumped off that plane!"
Years back when my brother did his first dive and showed me his video for the first time, I got goosebumps along with an irresistible urge to do it myself. I started watching a lot of videos on Youtube where people used to share their experiences and with each passing day, I became even more sure about experiencing it myself! This became something that i REALLLYYY REALLLY WANTED in my life. Finally, things fell in place and I booked my first tandem for 4th of April 2017 at 11AM.
I was super excited and counting days for my jump. Finally, I reached Dubai on 3rd April and started getting butterflies in my tummy because of the excitement:D
The entire first day in Dubai was great as I explored old Dubai, perfume souk and spices souk and was counting hours for my jump. I took the metro from Old Dubai to go back to my hostel at about 9PM.
I got the Wifi access and along with that came the biggest shock of my life. I received an e-mail saying- We regret the inconvenience caused and your Skydive has been cancelled because of bad winds which are expected tomorrow and day after. Kindly try your luck in our wait-list or reschedule your dive for Sunday(When I had my non-refundable return flight booked). I felt HEARTBROKEN!
I didn't want to give up and reached the sky-dive arena on 4th, 5th and 6th morning to try my luck but came back sad and heartbroken again. I was very sure that I was not returning to India without this jump since I had waited for years to do this. On 7th April, I reached the arena at 8:30AM in the morning when I knew that the opening time was 10AM. I kept on waiting and when the doors opened, I ran to write my name on the wait-list at number 1. I had my fingers crossed till 10:45AM and then, one woman came to me and asked me if I was the first one on the waitlist. She congratulated me and asked to get ready for my dive in the next 30 minutes! It would be sheer injustice if I try to explain that feeling even one bit:)
The best moment of my life it was. Then finally, I was ready for my dive and went to the plane which was ready to take me 13,000ft above the sea level.
While we were taking off, I was just looking down and seeing that everything in the world was so tiny! Finally I had my jump scheduled in 3 minutes, my instructor told me to jump when the light flashed green....
My adrenaline skyrocketed, I was in the air for one complete minute, free-falling, feeling like a bird. I looked down and what i saw was just out of the world, I saw the most beautiful thing in front of my eyes-The Palms. It was so serene and peaceful there. I wanted to stay there forever!
