Soft idli and crunchy dosa are the most preferred breakfast and tiffin in south four states. Idlis are steam cooked while dosas are made on hot pans. South India,states prepare unique idlis and dosas, which a traveller shouldn't miss eg. They are very stomach filling and healthy, when combined with filter coffee they make a wholesome breakfast, which gives energy.

Lets start with KARNATAKA

-Thatte idli - they are made out of idli rice, urad dhal and raw rice, which is soaked and grinded. They are fermented and poured on Thatte Idli plate, which is covered with polythene sheet and steamed. They are served with hot sambhar and chutney. 

-Benne dosa -they are made out of idli rice, urad dhal and poha. Potatoe masala is stuffed in the dosa and it is fried in ghee. Types of Karnataka dosas -Butter dosa(made by adding one spoon butter) Masala dosa(potatoe masala is fried in ghee and stuffed) Banana dosa(ripe banana is added on the dosa.

Davangere Benne Masala at Bashaveshnagar offers best dosas. Janata hotel at Malleshwaram gives yummy sambhar Vada and Rava idly.

Karnataka famous breakfast platter - Rava idly -Set dosa-Uddina Vada-sambhar-chutney with a glass of coffe or tea.

                                                      Benne dosa-puri Sagu or Pongal-sambhar -chutney with a glass of coffee or tea.

ANDHRA PRADESH

Idli - they are made out of urad dhal and idli rice. They are fermented and poured in idli plates and steamed. They are served with onion sambhars and coconut chutneys. Karrappodi powder mixed with ghee is served also.

Dosa -they are made out of urad dhal and boiled rice. They are crepe eaten with chutney, sambhar and Karrappodi. Types of Andhra dosa- minapattu( lentil based dosa) -Pesarattu(moong dhal dosa) -Atukulu dosa(made out of puffed rice called poha).

Beyond coffe at Jubilee Hills serves mouth watering breakfast. Chutney Hotel at Banjara Hills and Poorna Tiffin center at Krishnanagar offers yummy breakfast. 

Andhra Pradesh famous break fast platter -Idli-Gaaruvada-chutney-sambhar

KERALA

-Ramassery Idly -They are sold, famous at palakkadu. They are made out of rice and black gram. Idly is in the shape of a small dosa, which is made out of mud pot. Tamarind wood is used to cook this idly. They are served with chamonthy podi(rice,pepper, black gram and red chilly powdered). Coconut oil is used to mix this powder.

Dosa -They are made outbofbrice, urad dhak and fenugreek seeds, soaked, grinded and fermented. Types of Kerala dosa-Onion Dosa(Made out pearl onions) -Mixed vegetable uttapam(a small dosa made with chopped boiled vegetables) -Appam( dish made out of rice and urad dhal, served with stew and coconut milk).

TAMIL NADU

-Kanchipuram idly -Thsee idlis ave unique shape. They are made out of idly rice and urad dhal. Cumin seeds, ginger and pepper are added to the batter. These idlis are steamed on Mantharai leaves. They are served with kara chutney and sambhar. 

-Paper Dosa -It is known as paper roast and family dosa. The longest dosa. They are made out of fenugreek seeds, urad dhal and idly rice soaked, grinded and fermented. Maida is added to the batter for crispness and crunchiness. They are served with sambhar and chutney.
