Day1 - Reach guwahati airport, take a shared cab which charges a standard rate of Rs. 500. After almost 3hrs of journey, reach Shillong. If you are reaching before 3.30pm, don't wait no more (why? Coz you can start exploring early morning the next day in the beautiful village of Mawlynnong) . Get a shared sumo for Mawlynnong (Asia's cleanest village). Reach Mawlynnong and stay in a homestay. Bargain and it will be around Rs. 500 per night.
Day2 - Start early morning. Explore the village only by walking. Trust me the village is so damn pretty that roaming in vehicle won't do justice at all. Go see the root bridge, river flow, around 200 years old houses. Please if you can get connected with a local, do that. Let him/her show you their beautiful village. You'll get to see places which are not even in google maps.
Day3 - visit nohwet and experience the best cloudy view with maggi and tea. Just for Rs. 40. Get on a shared vehicle and go to Lapalang waterfall. Then go to Dawki. See the crystal clear water and go for a boat ride. Also, visit Bangladesh border. The soldiers there are absolutely friendly and on request they let you take pictures inside. Imagine your one leg in India and other in Bangladesh. Amazing right. Get back to Mawlynnong. Climb a tree house and stargaze.
Day 4 - Take a shared vehicle to Cherrapunji or better hitchhike from wherever possible. Reach cherrapunji and head to living root bridge trek. Its ok if you're starting during the day rather than early morning. The route is very safe with cutest villagers. Reach Nongriat Village and stay near the living root bridge. Explore. Take pictures. Take rest. Experience the wonderful view. Food there was really really bad. Whole of meghalaya has mouth watering food items but this place might disappoint you. If you don't wanna disappoint yourself, go with maggi and chai. Rooms you will get at around Rs. 350 after a quick bargain.
Day 5 - start early for rainbow falls trek. The route is really easy to finish. Its around 1 and a half hours trek. Taje Bluetooth speaker, food, water and enjoy the whole trekking experience. Reach rainbow falls. Trust me it would be one of the most beautiful experiences of your life. Its that pretty. Really really pretty. Spend some quality time. Enjoy witnessing the rainbow which will leave you stunned. Get down. On your way back there will be a mesmerizing place to dive. Soak yourself and spend the whole day with nature. Get back to the village by 4 and head your way back and reach cherrapunji main town.
Day 6 - Explore cherrapunji. Nohkalikai falls, eco park, seven sisters fall and mawsmai caves. I stayed in a lovely lady's house. She invited me to stay and we had a great time together.
Day 7 - Take a private car or hick hike to shillong. Explore shillong. Wards lake, umiam lake and shop in the local market. Stay in a backpackers hostel. Its lovely.
Day 8 - Take shared cab to Guwahati and head back home.
