Spring is in the air and so are these delightful festivals. From La Fallas in Spain to the Chanthaburi Fruit Fair in Thailand- these festivals will manage to put a spring in your step on your holiday there.

Las Fallas

When: 15th -19th March

Where: Valencia, Spain

Join the Valencians in celebrating the end of dark, winter working days and welcoming the spring during their festival, Las Fallas. Everything that is bad is burnt and reborn from the ashes to welcome a new season. Whole of Valencia is turned in to one enormous street party, with various parades, pageants, beauty shows, paella competitions and bullfights all over the city. Make sure you’re ready for the sheer craziness of this fiesta.

Alexandra Blossom Festival

When: 21st-24th September

Where: Alexandra, New Zealand

Celebrate the arrival of Spring with Alexandra Blossom Festival in New Zealand. Bask in the unique feel of a country fair in a modern age with events and activities that originated in the 50s. You will be mesmerized as the whole town shines with blossom-lined streets and orchards in full bloom.

Buergbrennen

When: 18th February

Where: Beggen, Luxembourg

Celebrate the Luxembourgers version of Holika, Buergbrennen. Huge stakes with a large cross in the middle are set alight on hilltops to chase away the winter. Later, hog till you drop on some grilled food and traditional dishes.

Nyepi

When: 14th-17th March

Where: Bali, Indonesia

If riotous and uproarious New Year events are not your cup of tea, then Bali well and truly has the celebration for you. Celebrate Balinese New Year, Nyepi with Ogoh-ogoh parades followed by a Day of Silence dedicated to connect more deeply with spirituality. Accompany the villagers in their various rituals and experience Bali in the most unusual way.

St. Patrick’s Day

When: 17th March

Where: Dublin, Ireland

Join the Irish people in their day of pride, heritage and celebration. Ireland on St Patrick’s Day is unlike anywhere else in the world. Sip on pints of Guinness, munch on some special foods and indulge yourself in this week-long festival. Banish the blues and go green.

Tulip time

Where: New South Wales, Australia

Celebrate one of Australia’s oldest and leading floral festival, Tulip Time this spring season. Watch the Southern Highland come alive and bloom with a multitude of activities. There’s something on offer for the young and the young at heart.

Tesselaar Tulip Festival

Where: Victoria, Australia
