There are even such music lovers in the world who can go upto quite a length to display their love for music. And we happened to meet such a couple in Darjeeling who had built up a hotel themed around the famous band “Beatles”, And very aptly, they named the hotel “Revolver”.

The hotel is located within a few minutes distance from the Gandhi Road. The property was actually a residential family property. The couple came up with the idea of constructing a hotel for the tourists. They constructed the upper floor for lodging and the ground floor was kept for the restaurant and café.

So passionate they were about music and Beatles in particular, that they had built the hotel in the theme of the great band. There are in total five rooms, and four of them are named after the four band members of Beatles – John, Paul, George and Ringo. The fifth room is named Brian after the band manager Brian Epstein.

The Rooms:

Each room has a distinct characteristic. No doubt all the rooms are cosy, clean and very well maintained. The rooms are simple, yet excellent. Do not expect luxury here, this is a budget hotel, but unlike many others in the budget category, this hotel offers something special to its visitors.

The second floor has all the rooms. There is a short corridor and the rooms are on the either side of the corridor. The first room on the left is John. John has the best mountain views. For privacy, Paul, George and Brian are the best. If you want the first rays of sun in your room, then you better choose George and Ringo.

All the rooms have bed warmers and unlike most budget hotels in Darjeeling, you can get warm water in the geyser 24 hours (Most hotels in Darjeeling provide hot water from 6 AM to 9 AM in the morning that is controlled centrally).

The Food:

This is another specialty of the Revolver Hotel. The restaurant below is a quaint affair. The place is painted in bright pastel colours and has two sections. At one part there are the glass top tables and chairs where you can have your meals. At the other section, there is a lounge area with low seating arrangements all offering a very quaint look. The walls are adorned with pictures of Darjeeling. And then there is a cupboard full of books. You can even borrow the books for a reading.PC: Tale of 2 Backpackers

Lunch is usually not served here as most of the tourists remain outside in the noon. Dinner is served on prior notice. Apart from the regular dishes, they also serve Naga dishes. They offer authentic Naga cuisines that are quite tasty and palatable. As they are cooked with very less oil, they are healthy too. And Revolver is the only hotel in Darjeeling to offer Naga dishes.
