Surfing is not at all a mainstream sport in India. In fact there less than 10 surfing schools in the entire country. But slowly the awareness around surfing has grown. And if you have been inquisitive about riding the waves, here are some places you need to check out!

1. Kovalam, Kerala

One of Kerala's favorite beaches is a challenging terrain for beginner surfers. The rocky sea bed is a bit dangerous and novices usually prefer Varkala over this, but Kovalam has its own specialty in tides and can be of great inspiration.

6. Manapad Point, Tamil Nadu

Formed by hundreds of years of lava flow, Manapad Point is a rare and hidden point in Tamil Nadu. It is in fact considered the best surfing spot in India. Amateurs should avoid surfing in monsoon, but otherwise the waves are friendly throughout the year.
