We asked Dermatologist Dr. Terrence Keaney for the perfect shaving routine and he was so kind to share these 7 steps to have the perfect skin.

1-. Always bathe before shaving.

Water and steam lighten the beard and release dirt and impurities trapped in the dead skin cells.

2-. Prepares facial hair for shaving.

Although you have used the shower before it is highly recommended to use a pre shave oil to properly prepare the hairs before applying the shaving cream, which must be moisturizing . This will achieve that the hairs are lifted and the shaving is easier, without having reason to irritate the skin.READ MORE.

3-. Shave in LESS than 5 minutes.

You want to shave before the skin dries, lose the nutrients you gave him through the previous treatment and everything becomes more complicated. It is very important to shave "with the hair" of your hairs,

4- Use the rake in the correct way.

The ideal is to shave in the direction of the growth of the beard . Start with the sides, then the mustache area and finally the chin. The hairs on the chin are the hardest, so it's best to leave them more time to soften with the shaving cream .

Shaving against the direction of hair growth gives a faster shave , but it has two drawbacks:

It's a great way to donate blood, and

You run a high risk of cutting a hair below the level of the skin, causing a buried hair - the beard grows in the tissue instead of leaving the pore, resulting in inflammation and possible infection.

To avoid these problems, shave "with the hair" (ie, in the direction of hair growth) .The facial hair of each person has its own growth pattern. If you are not sure of the direction of your beard, let it grow for a day or two and you'll see it.

It is also necessary to let the razor do the work - do not press too hard or you will cause buried hairs and shaving cuts.

5- If you want a shave even more flush.

If you want to get a shave more flush (as many hairdressers do) apply a little more foam (add more cream if necessary) to the areas you want to shave again. Keep everything moist. This is one of the additional advantages of using a brush . For most people, shaving in certain areas is complicated, by the way, usually the pros first shave "with the hair," and then shave backwards - but they are trained professionals!

But, do not ultra-clean. Excessive shaving will cause skin irritation and the dreaded razor burn and rash.

6-. Clean and heal after shaving.

After shaving, when the skin is more vulnerable, rinse the face with warm water and use a facial scrub.

7-. Rinse with cold water

Besides that it is a delight, and dry with a clean towel. (Do not rub! Just slap)

8-. Ends with an After Shave.

Shaving can remove up to two layers of skin. There is no other regular activity that does this, and therefore it is so important to use a good quality moisturizer after shaving. An After Shave after shave, designed as an after shave balm and moisturizer in one, is the ideal way to replace lost moisture and soothe the skin. The best After Shave not only replaces the lost moisture and calms, they also have ingredients that cool and refresh the skin.
