On my North East expedition while backpacking across 5 out of 7 sister states of North East India, Manipur was my last destination. I still did not feel satisfied as I had only 2 days to spend in Manipur. So, I tried to make the best itinerary possible and covered Loktak lake on the first day followed by commonwealth war memorial cemetery on the last few hours of being in Imphal. Without wasting any more time, I just rented out a bullet and rode it for the first time to reach Loktak lake. It was about an hour long ride from the downtown city of Imphal.
Have you ever wondered from where did that brown rice come from?
Manipur has the biggest contribution on our country's total brown rice production.
This is the only floating lake in the world and it is pretty much famous for its decomposed vegetation all over the place making beautiful circles that looks stunning from an ariel shot.
It is also one of the biggest fresh water lakes in the Northeast region of India and also home to an endangered species of Deer “Sangai” which is only found in this part of the world.
If you are a photographer I would highly recommend you to tag along drone with you because if you are taking pictures from the ground, it does not really justifies it’s real natural beauty.
The indigenous people in the region are more rely on the food provided by the lake such as fish.
